@pisces3988 said in Game launching video loading screens:

I Figured it out and got it working, yay!!!

      Congratulations!

I'm sorry for causing any trouble by bumping my post, like what's that's term suppose to mean.

It's said to be short for "bring up my post" (see the Urban Dictionary). It's when the owner of a thread keeps posting just to get attention and/or keep the thread in the "new messages" list.

In general, bumping is frowned upon, especially if it's done repeatedly in a short timespan. One bump after a longer time (in a forum approx. after a week or more) is usually seen as acceptable, though.

Thanks a Million everyone & Merry Christmas. This teaches me not to give up on anything no matter how hard it could be.

Merry Christmas to you too, and well said about not giving up. 👍

@Kalamabrew su is not sudo, they're different programs. I understood you're not able to use sudo - you'll have to investigate more on how to enable sudo for your user and then re-do the installation.

Theoretically it should be possible. The trackball should replicate a mouse and if ES could translate trackball/mouse inputs as joystick/keyboard inputs then it should be theoretically possible. I haven't tried this nor am I involved in development here, but this would be cool functionality. Right now you could get around this with a little USB control pad that is only used for ES, but I understand this isn't a long term solution. I'm not sure if this is the right place to suggest modifications to EmulationStation, but perhaps specific workaround code could be developed similar to the "xarcade2joystick" (or whatever it's called) functionality. This would be cool nonetheless.

For what it's worth, I got a 5.2v 2.5a power supply. I had no reason to believe it would make a difference; but I've seen much stupider things fix dumb things.

Of course, the cursor still pops.

@mitu Nope, I'm using the dev build on my Pi as well. And the other two setups on my PC, which worked, used the same build. I assume it has something to do with my es_systems.cfg and/or the way I've set up the dummy files. Maybe I see if I can rework the setup but like I said, I currently don't care.

@joemommasfat I just implemented a feature recently that will now preserve the extra data from the gamelist.xml data (not released yet, but can be tested on the 'master' branch if people are curious). I will add the <sortname>to the nodes that should be preserved (EDIT: Done, it will be in 2.8.0). That way it won't be erased for games that already exist when rewriting the gamelist.xml. The only caveat to this is that it preserves the nodes by comparing the <path> filename to the rom filenames and if they match it will be preserved for that game. But if you either change the <path>or filename of a rom manually, they won't match and the extra information will not be moved over when regenerating the xml. So users should be aware of that.

@mitu I found the splash screen setup option and it was enabled there, so no more splash screen. Splash screen options are found in what, 3 locations?

Uninstalling and reinstalling the xbox controller driver worked as well, mostly. I had trouble in the Sega Master System emulator, but I'm not going to go any further into any issues. I figure a fresh install will be necessary to clean up all the mess I've made. I'm not willing to put the time in at this point.

There's some odd "failed" messages while booting up the pi. Some look like they pertain to mounting my external drive, but it mounts anyway? Odd. I'm just going to leave things as they are for now and eventually start over.

Thanks for all your help. I guess we can consider things resolved.

@mitu thank you so much for sending that over. I took a look at that at the time but ran into a couple of issues that would benefit from others' inputs as the changes to make it work don't seem to be trivial and will likely imply some changes in other areas of the code, so I'd rather not do that without others' perspective.

@jdrassa this is the issue that prompted our chat a while back, for context. I may take this on later or at least add comments to the issue that was just created so that we can discuss things there.

      Thanks all.
