Hi, thanks a lot to everybody for the answers! And my apologize to not being clear in my question.
I have a panel with just one coin button. And more or less, a part games like vendetta, it works, even with other emulators. But of course I'd like to have a complete experience, so I'm trying to figure out a way without changing panel, if there is no solution I'll dig another hole, but is going to be a quite a mess, so I'd like to avoid it.
I try to wire player2 coin to player1 coin. It works, everytime I press coin button I get 2 coins and with vendetta games I have another player ready to go. But with other emulators it's a mess, it's like pressing select button at the same time for both users and as example for PC Engine games I had lot's of problem, so I roll back.
The only working way, without doing another hole, in my opinion, it's a combo buttons (hot-key), like Start Player 2 + A player 2 button = player 2 coin, something like that. I'm using XiMo interface, and reading around I did not find any useful instruction on how to do it. Hot-keys are only available for particular purpose as far as I understand.

    thanks again

@ironj679 Hmm. That seems rather suspect to me. The Pi needs the config.txt to know all of its boot settings. How did you build your software setup? Those details are a prerequisite for posting questions here anyway. You should be starting with the official download of the retropie image, and it definitely has a /boot/config.txt.

@vahnxdean Play it on windows with mame or buy it from steam. That game requires a newer version of Mame and I highly doubt it's playable even if you did get it running on the pi.

@UDb23, @meleu : ok - repo is now set up, and (I think) ready to be added to the installation script.
I've submitted an issue with the details.

Also, sorry for the threadjack, and thanks for your patience.

@andershp ha ha ha ha, must have made an odd typo and then autocorrected to "old". Funny, but possibly true!

Thanks @dankcushions I didn't knew that I needed the parent rom. Problem solved. It's up and running. Now I can save my progress in Pacman.

    Thank you all.

@andershp You can use the following commands to create a list of your games for a system:

    cd /path/to/gamelist.xml grep "<name>" gamelist.xml >> roms.txt

You can open roms.txt in a text editor and use the Find and Replace tool to replace the <name> and </name> tags with blanks. Then you can copy and paste the contents to a spreadsheet.

They won't activate my account on the Italian site. I register and am supposed to send a confirmation email within 24 hours, otherwise I'll be blacklisted immediately. I've tried twice, and my account will never be activated. How do I get this MAME Set Rebuilder?

The instructions are clear but maybe it is too complicated for you:

Your account has been created. However, the system requires an administrator to activate your account. Please send an email to: noreply (at) retropie-italia (dot) it within 24 hours. STRICTLY use the email account you used to register on the forum, writing ONLY the nickname you used during registration in the body of the email (the subject MUST be empty), you will be informed when your account is activated.

I honestly don't see what this has to do with RetroPie.
Lr-mame2010 is a pre-compiled binary in RetroPie and is available to be installed from the setup script. And I'm almost 100% sure that the libretro cores have an option to disable the nag screen and warning screen within the RetroArch menu.

Very creative with the vertical logo

    Thanks.
The vertical logo was used for the arcade cabinet side art. Finding no original scan but only some low res pictures I recreated something that looks quite close.
Should be adding some detail like the "starfield" background and some more "starships".

Here's a solution for the Linux command line of Retropie. You get to the command line by quitting Emulation Station or by connecting over the network with ssh. After logging in, you will be in the home folder of the user pi with the full directory path /home/pi/ or in short ~.

I've extracted all rom names from the 0.78u5 DAT file. You can get the list here. Save it into a file called lr-lite.list to use it with the following commands.

In the example below, your full romset is in folder romset_full and the custom romset will be in folder romset_lr-lite, both located in your home folder ~. The file lr-lite.list is also in your home folder ~.

You'll then have to execute one these commands:

Either copy the files (needs more space, the full set remains intact)

while read file; do cp "romset_full/$file".zip romset_lr-lite/; done < lr-lite.list

or move the files (same space as before, filtered files are removed from the full set)

while read file; do mv "romset_full/$file".zip romset_lr-lite/; done < lr-lite.list

Now, you have a custom romset matching the 0.78u5 DAT file in the folder romset_lr-lite. Copy the roms into the rom folder of your choice (e.g. mame-libretro) and then scrape them to generate a new gamelist.xml.

You can delete the file lr-lite.list after checking that everything worked as planned.

Bonus for advanced users: I extracted the rom names from the 0.78u5 DAT file by using this command.

    xmlstarlet sel -T -t -m /datafile/game/@name -v . -n mame2003-lr-lite.xml >lr-lite.list
