Looks like a modder by the name of Madmonkey on a Russian forum has figured out how to add extra games (total of 60) to the NES Mini. The exploit involves connecting the console to a computer via a USB cable and then booting it into "FEL" mode. Madmonkey's tool is called "hakchi". Another modder named Cluster has put together a streamlined version of this tool called "hakchi2".

I tried them both now, and nestopia definitely has the better audio emulation. Mario 1 dying sounds so inaccurate in fceumm. In the past, nestopia had this strange sound bug every now and then but I no longer hear it. Though, maybe the fceumm audio accuracy might be improved in the future?

And can I recommend having the Unsaturated or Nes-Classic Palette as default? They look much better on both emulators.

@laephis I had a issue were my tv would only use pal 50hz even when I ran a usa nes rom .... Hence I had stuttering and slowdown try a pal game see if that runs fine if so that's your issue. I had to change the .config to force my tv to find 60hz maybe this is the same issue.

^^^^^ issue solved I speak through my hoop

I see. So the Xbox dongle would in port 0, the nes in port 1, the DB9 connectors (if this works) in port 2, and the "rom drive" in port 3. Now, what about using a USB hub? I bought a 4-port hub to connect USB devices to (like keyboard, mouse, etc) via the cartridge slot. Should this be plugged into 0, and then the Xbox dongle plugged into that? Or would it make more sense to connect the rom drive to that and have it plugged into port 3? I found out the 4-port (usb powered) hub isn't powerful enough to supply power to my keyboard, so I'm going to the computer store tomorrow to buy a powered one, and was thinking a 7 port one would work nice. The kind with 4 on one side (available via the cartridge slot) and 3 "internal" that I can connect things like the NES ports too. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to do it.

So is at all possible then the idea of having interchangeable controllers?

@Locke141 I've just read the NES wiki and I can't see where it says that nestopia is the default.

I see "lr-nestopia is preferred due to better accuracy and the ability to play Famicom Disk System games, plus better input latency. lr-fceumm is slightly faster, which may give a benefit to Raspberry Pi 1/0 users"

Does anyone have any further information on this. I too was following the same Instructables info and can not get this to work.

I have a slightly different controller then what is displayed, but it is a NES controller and not USB. I traced out the different color wires and adjust accordingly.

How can I test if the gpio is seeing any input from the wires soldered to the Pi Zero?

      @diqits Hello!

Just set one controller as a multitap device, on the emulator menu.
Press select and square to get to the menu options, go to input and set the controller type.

Sorry, i cannot be precise because i do not have here the raspberry pi.

Thank you!! As obsidianspider already mentioned, i wired the RESET button directly to the RUN header of the Raspi. So it functions merely as a power interrupt.

Thanks a lot! That's really nice of you to say. It's great to see my work is appreciated by people "in the business". ;-)

Just in case anyone is reading this thread I figure I should say that I was able to mount the RP mSD card in Ubuntu and copy roms over manually. Now to figure out how to get the scraped data over as well.

So it's definitely like that when you press the power button, the metadata in ES will not be saved. Does anyone have experience in it? That one changes the mouseberry script, which is first closed ES and then the PI drove down?

@hannaman some ports require manual configuration. Most things are documented on the wiki - see https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation for a fresh install.

I recommend doing that, as I have no idea what state you have bought the software in.

"Note for eBay: No copyright material is contained on this item. All software supplied is open source and free of copyright. " Yeah - sure!
