So I started a new game, saved at the first point, exited, then renamed the srm to srm.bak for safekeeping, then uploaded and renamed the srm I wanted and it worked.

Any ideas why this is an issue? I'm not really complaining, I'm more intrigued at this point. It almost seems as if the emulator keeps track of whether or not a save should exist. That seems counterintuitive considering the concept of removeable memory cards on the console itself and I would assume an emulator would not need to care if a game had ever been started. Is it similar to modern consoles where it tracks and creates an internal memory file of the game existing and has save files separate?

Thank you for the fast answers.

Now I understand. I didn't understand that the m3u-Option is a separate method to pbp.

OK. Then i can go back to work :-D

      Thx

Going back on this, I know it’s old...

I like to keep my PSX ROMs aligned to the Redump DATs which means .BIN and .CUE files. Also, I’ve found that converting them to .PBP has thrown errors in the past. Not looked into .CHD files but with both these methods of converting ROMs it can be a pain if you have a large collection.

Since this was posted I still use an unzip script but I use .M3U files for multi-disc games (which seem to use a single .BIN and .CUE in Redump terms) and .CUE for single disc games (which Redump seems to either use single .BIN or multiple .BINs).

This method has both storage benefits and save game benefits as the save files are aligned with the .M3U for multi-disc games.

PS. Last time I checked the entire PSX Redump collection was 3.7TB so there are benefits to unzipping into a cache if storage is tight and you’re not doing so to an SD card.

cant speak for the standalone pcsx-rearmed so someone else could probly chip in there as for the libretro build its possible to generate game specific overides both for core settings and controller remaps via the quick menu section of emulators menu i use the libretro build myself for specific core settings for certan games as analogue input breaks certan games and enhanced resolution brings in graphic glitches on some too so i have specific configs for these games via the override feature

I think he's referring to this in particular.

Okay, I figured out the solution... even though all other ROMs i've tried are european they still work with the american BIOS... but only Bugs Bunny and Taz don't.

I'll only use USA roms from now on.. The screen doesn't jump with USA version of the game

Yes, I did my own research and decided that you have no idea what you're talking about and are spreading false information. The tool PSX2PSP produces PBP files that can be re-extracted into bin/cue files with no loss in audio or video quality.

You say you converted 1200 game images with PSX2PSP and all the time you thought the audio tracks were compressed into mp3? You are not the smartest tool in the shed then, because the size difference would be enormous for many games if that were the case.

(I don't care what Sony has done with its own PBP releases, they are probably lossy.)

@TheDataCereal This is probably the easiest method so far. Do you know what a proper m3u file should look like and how the file should be named so the emulator recognizes it?

While that's the easiest, I still think this could be much more user friendly. Not knocking your suggestions at all, but as any classic American infomercial would say, "There's gotta be a better way!"

No, I said removing the file. So just run rm /opt/retropie/configs/psx/emulators.cfg OR provide the contents of that file.

By removing this file, every game I try and boot now says "no config file" and crashes back to the main menu? This is a bummer

I had to reinstall every single emulator, which was a bummer, but fixed the issue with roms not loading with that error. But I still cant change some emulators for certain games, according to other posts it seems like its a permissions error, so I'll diagnose that. BUT for people trying to solve this, dont delete that emulators.cfg unless you want to have to reinstall an emulator.

@edmaul69 You can. There are really some rom sharing pages, mentioning clearly those eboots are from official sony psn store. They decrypt it with tools.

Another thing is, you are unable to revert back those files to bin/cue/iso files. They are generated from pkg files downloaded raw from sony psn.

@Schwette Yes I tried exactly that.. but doesn't work for me. No big deal though... Multidisc games that consist out of independent discs (like Resident evil 2 or Command and conquer) I just don't make an m3u file, but boot the .cue files seperately. All the other multidisc games change discs fine when the game asks for it (no reboot needed then).

ok never mind i found my mistake. the file extension was wrong. i had ".BIN" and it has to be ".bin" then the .sbi file will work correctly.
