There's no need to expand file system via raspi-config.

@aberusugi said in Booting to command line after installing basic package:

I go into retropie config and install basic package

      What "basic package" is it?!

On a totally unrelated note: these are nifty little 3D hack games. More impressive than I was expecting. Though the graphics on most of them looked like they were designed for the SNES and just thrown in a color garbage can converter for the Genesis graphics. But I must say, PGA Tour had some jammin' music :D

Also, please note that I am using retropie 4.1 and whatever emulators come with that. They are probably a little outdated... and better? Hehe.

For anyone who might want to give this a try: I just picked up a used Dell Chromebook 13 and with GalliumOS on it, RetroPie installed using the Ubuntu instructions very easily.

      0_1483131403252_galliumos-retropie.jpg

Things run very well, though GalliumOS seems to want to turn on the screen saver even if I'm using my USB controller. The workaround was to go into the power manager and enable "Presentation Mode" so the screen doesn't dim.

      Hello,

      Pi Model: Raspberry Pi 3
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.1
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: PS3 controller + DataTraveler G4 64GB

As I said, right now everything works fine. My roms are on my SD Card.

When I insert my USB with roms in it. It seems to corrupt my retropie... I'm stuck at a terminal command and it shows kernel version, cpu temperature, but no way to get back to usual retropie interface..

      Thanks,
      JP

@davesMODs ah. Yes that's a common issue. I forgot about that one. Would have helped I'd you posted the information requested on the read this first page, would have identified the problem immediately.

Install Kodi 17 manually or wait til Kodi 17 stable is released with retropie.

I can get in to the castle just fine, but selecting levels, they just end up super lagging and no textures. pi3 is just not powerful enough to run it.

      @Bradyadams
Which configure file? The mupen configure "mupen64plus.cfg" or the autoconfig file "InputAutoCfg.ini"? I recently ran into same / similar. No matter how much I edited the mupen config controller sections no changes. Even if I set the controller to manual config but no luck. The global buttons like escape I could changes.

I then found an old auto config file that had info for keyboard already setup. I copied this into the config folder and was good to go. Reading the wiki it made it sound like the auto config should be generated when you first start retropie, but I am guessing if you only config keyboard it might not.
