@dbg33k This would work except i think you would run into issues with resolutions and screen sizes. Your hand held will have a small screen and probably need to be set to a lower screen resolution. It might be a pain to constantly change the setting back and forth between your TV and your handheld as all of those settings are also within the SD card. I might suggest that you buy a micro or mini usb drive and transfer your roms onto the USB. Then you can have small SD cards in both your pi's and just move the thumb drive back and forth. With the small thumb drives it shouldn't be to much of a problem with the handheld. All the roms and save files will be stored on the usb stick. Here is an example of a 32gb stick link text

@chrisdodgen said in Oops, I broke Retropie Setup. Question about re-imaging.:

Can I just use windisk32 and rewrite the image directly over this one without doing anything else?

Absolutely yes! When you write an image to a SD card all the previous data is overwritten.

@simonster I had totally forgotten that I used a USB to transfer the last time and not the SD card. This should fix the problem. Thank you!

So I am having this same issue, trying to move ROMS from my computer to the ROM folder in Raspberry Pi.

I followed the instructions above to expand the file system within raspi-config, rebooted a few times, but it still says I do not have enough room, despite having about 10GB of free space on the card. Any suggestions? Please be explicit as my knowledge of the Pi system is not too great.

@miked if putting it in the pi doesnt expand the file system, go into raspi-config and expand the file system.

@Nicky ask the seller for support. Why you spent money on free software is beyond me. That seller is illegally selling our work not to mention copyrighted content

If you want any help here, start from scratch with the official image.

So basically you want to access his SD kart, to copy his games to your SD card?

Since it doesnt work plug and play to read the filesystem of the SD card on your computer the easiest way is to place the card in a Raspberry. To get the files you can use either SFTP like filezilla (a program to install) to access it via network or to connect an USB-stick to move the files from that raspberry to the external device. The roms are located in /home/pi/RetroPi/roms/.

Haha no problem. I like the idea of doing this. It was just question as whether I would get any improvement in speed. Looking at some benchmarks, my SanDisk extreme sd card is a pretty good performer. But as I don't have the time to do extensive tests or benchmarks myself, I was wondering what other people had experienced in terms of read speed. Thank you for the links by the way.

I now have it working. The SD card was working as it should, for some reason it was not automatically running the process to extend the filesystem, even after a reinstall. So i ran the command to do it my self.

That has solved my issue and i now have all my roms copied across and everything is working well.

I have the same issue... sort of... I'm running a pidrive and put an image on it... worked beautifully... I started adding more roms... then got to a point where it told me I didn't have any more room... I have a terabyte tho... I tried expanding the file system and says sda2 is not an sd card... it won't let me... So i'm in the same boat as you... I saw noobs is an option but I have not tried it... I'm not sure if it will mess with my image or not...

@megafacehead Sound like an undersized card to me. Have you check what Linux reports as free space on the disk ? Log in via SSH or just drop to a command line by pressing F4 on the ES screen and run df -h to see how much space is available on the card.

Sounds like a bad/fake card. If not check the compatibility list:
