Pastebin of the STD out file

This is the output of tail -f /tmp/dumps/steam_stdout.txt
When attempting to launch lr-picodrive from inside emulation station that is launched from SteamOS.

      Found a better solution.

Basically what yo u need to do is go to Hotkey Behavior in Dolphin and configure a button on your gamepad to exit.

Also configure the flag in options that specifices to keep the window always on top and his mouse/cursor

Then in Runcommand you need to press x when you launch a dolphin game and select dolphin gui as the default emulator

From there game will launch in full screen. You will be able to exit back to emulation station with only your gamepad and everything should be fine.

I got it compiled on my Ubuntu desktop with a small header modification, but performance was actually worse than the official Dolphin PPA

@WadeBrody It means a PC as opposed to a single board computer like a Pi. x86 referring to the 8086 processors introduced by Intel years ago.

I think I found the reason: The hex values that are getting sent are terminal-specific and don't work for my terminal. I fixed it (hopefully) by using curses which uses terminfo to translate to the actual terminal values.
      PR soon... :)

@Hevvie said in emulationstation systemd service:

I had the same issue, what you need to do is put "<bool name="BackgroundJoystickInput" value="true" />" into your es_settings.cfg file as it thinks ES is running in the background.

I will try this out when I get a chance. Great find!!!

@mediamogul With that game I noticed much more severe slowdown on the Pi2. It was still playable, but the sound stuttered, as did the graphics. The Pi3 mostly resolves that problem with it's 200 MHz performance boost over an overclocked Pi2 plus various architectural improvements. Still I have noticed it on occasion with the Pi3, so your right games using a SuperFX2 chip may very well be one of the metrics you need for your tests.

@herb_fargus Retropie Newb here. Was having the same issue with scraper stopping when screensaver came on. Tried the scraper you recommended and got a quick error about installation not being valid. Now when I run the Retropie scraper, one database, TheArchive, races through yielding no matches and TheGamesDB now moves 2-3 per minute and finds nothing. How do I restore my scraper without scraping my Retropie?

      No problem:

      vbs@vbs-XS35:~$ grep -a4 "(fbset)" /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh # get default fb_res (if not running on X) fb_orig="" if [[ -z "$DISPLAY" ]]; then fb_orig="$(fbset)" fb_orig="${fb_orig##*mode \"}" fb_orig="${fb_orig%%\"*}" fi

Well, I probably clicked that option in the runcommand menu "Select framebuffer Res" but I think I chose "320x240" which was the initially value anyway. But ok, that might be the reason! Thanks!

The wiki should probably redirect people to use the menu option. It didn't even have the warning at one point - Sometimes there is out of date info there.

re: binaries. libretro actually have their own nightly binaries for common architectures (including Linux x86 - see http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/linux/)

so it's possible the script could utilise these for x86, if anyone wants to code it...
