@itsnitro yes. I have opened several with roaches. All systems that have vents are potential roach motels. Heat and dark space. Everything they love.

@edmaul69 said in NES emulators in 16:9 black bars discussion:

@backstander it doesnt work in fceumm because it became a core option. And core options override retroarch.cfg files.

in theory core options and retroarch.cfg options shouldn't really overlap. core options are those that are specific to the core you're using (enable_multitap or whatever), whereas retroarch options are potentially applicable to all libreto cores (enable_shader), although in retropie we have separate retroarch.cfg files for each core, as well as an /all/retroarch.cfg for generic options.

so in my opinion, overscan options should either be a retroarch, or a core option, not both, but i don't really know the intention/history of that option.

I guess it's a long shot hoping that this game will be playable on the Pi, right?

Well, it'll be released for the XBox One, Windows 10 and Steam. The hope to play on the pi remains on the Steam.

These are amazing. It's really cool to see what people are able to squeeze out of this old hardware.

@windale i forgot to tell you this part to make stuff on the right analog like super sprints gas, brake to work on buttons, you want to add this to the retroarch files they can co exist with the existing settings. you need to add the button numbers you want to switch them to.

    input_player1_r_x_plus_btn = " " input_player1_r_x_minus_btn = " " input_player1_r_y_plus_btn = " " input_player1_r_y_minus_btn = " " input_player2_r_x_plus_btn = " " input_player2_r_x_minus_btn = " " input_player2_r_y_plus_btn = " " input_player2_r_y_minus_btn = " "

Why on Earth would you play Robotron and Smash TV with a controller? :D

I'd advise you to stock with wired controllers. They have the best performance and never need to be charged, and besides, they are more authentic.

10' extension cables are your friend :)

Propbably an another troll. It should take you just one second via Google to find what you need, there are many sites which host the complete PS1 rom library. Insulting people will achieve you nothing.

This particular goof actually reminded me for the first time in years that I once maintained an Atari 2600 fan page on GeoCities. The whole shebang has been archived for posterity by some sadomasochist madmen in a 90GB torrent. I might try to dig it out some day.

@hooperre i had bought neverwinter nights back in the day but it wouldnt play on my pc. Its possible it was because i had a cd writer as tomb raider didnt work either because of that. I just dont remember for sure why it didnt work. I wish i still had all my games from back then. Possibly because i had a voodoo card and not an nvidia card tnt2 or geforce card.

I had the pi 2 set to one of the default overclock choices that you could pick in the raspi config tool, i didn't do anything custom.

I remember playing a lot of Bomberman '94 on the PC Engine/TG16 with my girl friend back in the day! This version supported up to 5 players at once! I think there's been a Bomberman/Dyna Blaster game ported to just about every retro console, handheld and the arcade.

@edmaul69 Shining force CD was good on sega cd, it was a compilation of the first 2 game gear shining forces (shining force gaiden, and shining force 2 the sword of hadjya) both really good games. And i think there was a third scenario on the CD version that completes the story, but i havent gotten that far into it yet.

@thedeathstar said in looking for free legal games:

@dankcushions Right, I don't think anyone is doing that, and that certainly wasn't the topic in this thread. I guess you'll say it's not your job to explain, but how is accepting donations for the image which packages non-commercial items different than selling a project made from that same image? It seems to me that Buzz is really upset that their work is being monotized, but saying it's because of the non-commercial emulators. Hence, having your cake and eating it too.

We accept donations for our work on RetroPie-Setup etc - nothing to do with selling other peoples software. We don't sell anything.

I am not happy about people breaking licences, and associating RetroPie with piracy which is happening all the time. I don't have to help anyone sell RetroPie "legally". Why should I ?

When it comes to software you never really own it like you do a car or refrigerator. You only own a license to use the software. It has always been that way and software publishers are merely leveraging modern technology to enforce that idea now.

They have always fought against the idea of trading games or letting friends borrow them but the technology and infrastructure just wasn't there in the 1980s and 90s. I'm sure if they could have foreseen the internet and ROMs they would have built in self destruct mechanisms into every cartridge ever made. From their point of view, your rant is equivalent to: I miss the days before everybody locked their doors, when I could just go into anybody's house and take whatever I want. We could argue about whether that view is correct or not, but it is why DRM exists in modern games.

Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
