@pc4life0427 feel free to report them, but indiegogo doesn't give a crap. They'll take their cut, and they'll all go running off to the bank laughing.

I also have many Amiga titles installed and they work swimmingly on the Pi3. The same can be said for every 16-bit title I've personally tried; including the SuperFX games for the SNES.

Exactly right. If this were ever integrated into RetroPie it would have to be the x86 version.

@brianmcm these are really more Linux specific / raspberry pi specific questions rather than retropie. RetroPie has some modules for getting dualshock controllers running .

I've done some camera module stuff on the side but I mostly used crontab and spoofed the time on the pi to create a mobile schedule to automatically start, take pics every minute or so, and then to shut down after 8 hours of use.

As far as integrating it I'm sure there is probably some way either through something like the Linux joystick remapper or some custom code to link your Python scripts to your key presses, or technically I guess you could utilise the functions from the RetroPie setup script, you could technically add custom code that adds a menu for your functions and then it will just use the default joy2key implementation for selecting through the dialog GUI

The code should be ok but some of the provided shader/overlay configuration files are referring to absolute pathes that do not exist that way on RPis (e.g. Path to shader crt-pi).

@GtBFilms said in Which emus are worth my time? Hit me with your thoughts..:

the 3D effect can be achieved with old-school 3D anaglyph cardboard glasses.

I have a traditional pair of sunglasses with red and blue lenses in the frames that are very comfortable. I've used them in many situations over the years, but currently they're sitting next to my Pi for the sole purpose of VirtualBoy emulation. While it's not a perfect solution for 3D support, I find that it works very well and it's quite a novelty to see these games visually approximated in the way they were intended.

    @Sailing_Nut

Arcade ROMS are confusing at first and there are a LOT of questions. The Admins have put together a lot of documentation to help people out and unfortunately, there are a lot of people that just expect the admins to do everything for them, Unfortunately, the Admins don't get paid and the expectation to have everything handed to people is getting really common these days.

Just as an FYI, The extra instructions are located under the individual emulators. For instance, MAME and FBA have the managing roms link. Other emulators have instructions for specific configs and such.

You can also always Google "Retropie MAME" or "Retropie N64" to get to the direct links as well.

Nintendo's in-house emulators seem to be hit or miss. NES titles on the WiiU are notoriously murky; yet thankfully, the 'NES Classic Edition' doesn't suffer from that.

Edit: Although I can't find an official confirmation of this, it seems to be widely speculated that the murky colors found in the NES WiiU VC games was in fact an intentional aesthetic decision to help reduce the risk of epileptic seizures. It's further speculated that this was not necessary in the 'NES Classic Edition' due to rom hacking on the part of Nintendo to alter the way images flash on screen.

@Radioaktive In the strictest sense, distributing a ROM is illegal, so the RetroPie community cannot distribute an image with the ROMs preloaded. In practice, most ROMs are effectively abandonware and are easy to find online. Many sites have full collections of every ROM for a given system.

However, it is important to not cultivate any perception that RetroPie is used for anything illegal because we don't want this project being shut down (even though emulators and ROMs have been around for ages without being shut down).

You won't find anyone here who will link to ROMs themselves, or a SD image with the ROMs preloaded. However, I wouldn't be shocked if a preloaded image existed somewhere out there. And frankly it isn't that hard to copy the ROMs over.

For whatever city you live in, there is probably a LUG (Linux User Group) where someone locally is probably willing to help set up the Pi for your son for Christmas. For example, here is my local LUG.

Ah you cannot turn on analog triggers....Retropie cannot read them...only analog sticks.
The retropie only reads on or off for the triggers. :-(
Anyone correct me if I am wrong on this.
I made this VS video a bit ago but I also go into how to enable it. Not hard :-)
