No matter what I tried, I couldn't get XBOX One and XBOX One S controller working on RetroPie 4.1 (and on 3.8) running on Raspberry Pie 1 Model B.

However, when I tried the same thing on Raspberry Pie 3 Model B, it worked like charm. It worked both for XBOX One and XBOX One S controllers. But I had issues connecting XBOX One S controller via Bluetooth; which I need to research further.

With this experience of mine, I believe we can safely assume that Raspberry Pie 1 Model B is somehow incapable of pairing with XBOX One and XBOX One S controllers.

    Thanks,

@mrbwa1 I know, but when you turn the resolution down, people claim it works. I'll use a display with a very low resolution so I'm fine with turning the game's resolution down. But thanks anyway :)

Thanks for the answers and clarification.

    Can't have everything I guess.
Demul was open source at the very beginning but people didn't show any interest so they decided to lock the code and won't open it anymore. At least not anytime soon. Looks like pride is more important to them.

lr-fbalpha covers already so many awesome games which will keep us busy for quite a while.
I think besides that there is no emulator right now the other issue is hardware power. The Pi3 most like won't have the necessary specs to run any of those Atomiswave games.

do you know by any chance?

I'm afraid I don't have much experience with Bluetooth issues. To get the best help you should open up a new thread in the 'Help and Support' section.

I haven't had any issues with updating. I have heard of sporadic issues with the dist-upgrade, but they have never affected me. Then again, I'm using the binaries and not really using any of the experimental stuff.

I can get in to the castle just fine, but selecting levels, they just end up super lagging and no textures. pi3 is just not powerful enough to run it.

@obsidianspider said in Bluetooth PS3 or PS4 Controller with RetroPie?:

The last Playstation controller I used was a Dualshock 2 on my Playstation 2, but I assume the PS3 controller is basically the same thing but wireless.

    I wouldn't say that, i don't like dualshock3's dpad.

@dirthurts Your original post title asks about thermal paste vs. thermal adhesive. To me, these are very similar products--both are thick liquids. The paste typically remains liquid (though very sticky) and the adhesive goes on smooth but later hardens like a glue. Some of the answers above pertain to self-adhesive double-stick pads which is a third method. In another thread we had a mix of anecdotal contributions from folks with different solutions. What I took away from that discussion was:

Double-stick pads (tape?) is hit or miss. A quality product might work fine, but if you don't know what you are getting, you could actually be insulating instead, and that could make your heat problem worse.

CPU thermal compound/paste is probably the best interface between a CPU and sink. (i.e. Arctic Silver 5). Apply to clean parts, and use very sparingly. Friction and suction keep it held in place, but you can still knock or twist it off. It's better if something holds it down (but I have never had a problem with my heatsink on a Pi3 mounted upside-down).

Thermal adhesive may work fine, even if it isn't specifically designed nor documented by the manufacturer for CPUs. It has the advantage of being more secure.

Interface being equal, results vary depending on your heatsink. Most people reported that their Pi2 saw little improvement even with good sink+compound. The Pi3 runs hotter, and I noticed IMMEDIATE and SIGNIFICANT benefit from having a small heatsink attached. Mine was throttling after being on for extended periods, and always whenever I opened a newer game. Adding a small sink with thermal paste has completely eliminated my throttling.

Fans and giant sinks can take the cooling even further. (I use a small sink, and no fan on my Pi3 and I am very pleased).

I would say that for a Pi3, you definitely will benefit from even the smallest of heat sinks if properly attached (I would avoid the self-adhesive gamble).

The Raspberry Pis have been made in the UK for a while. As demand grew, they did add additional manufacturing in China. The Pi 3 is also made in Japan.

My original B+ was made in the UK. Not sure about my Pi2 and my Pi3 came from China. All seem to have equal quality, so it's just extra capacity to keep up with global demand.
