@dizmodawg Use KIOSK mode would probably be easier to still have those available in FULL mode. You could just jump back and forth when you need to edit something. The stuff would still be there, but "hidden" in KIOSK mode. You just have to set the "hidden" flag on each entry in each system and the system won't show up. You can use KID mode like this to. You can flag a handful of ROMs as "kid friendly" and then that's all that will show up.

They're kinda opposites. KIOSK mode will show everything except flagged. KID mode will show only flagged.

I know this topic is really old but i had the same problem myself and solved it. I noticed that the button mappings in RetroArch interfered with MAME 2010's mappings. One button could mean one thing in RetroArch but another in MAME so RetroArch would say to MAME something like - Hey! We also want to press this button!

What i did was that i blanked out the button mappings in RetroArch so they're seen as ---. After this my MAME mappings worked straight away. Then saved it as a content (game) specific configuration.

@mitu Good call! I'm not sure how much power it's pulling, but setting over_voltage to 2 definitely makes it last longer, though not completely staying on all the time. Trying with setting it to 3 right now and that seems to be going strong!

@mitu so i just mapped it in ES ( after re-enabling auto save) and then i had to quit ES and i did a system shutdown, performed a reboot and it is WORKING! so far, yes!! i think before, i wasn't exiting ES correctly and it kept remapping the r1 to only the start button as the "y" button. and it was showing up as a keyboard input. I REALLY appreciate your help. thank you!

@sephiroth Unless you have a way to mount that cloud drive as a normal mount in the filesystem, I don't think you can do this.

I'm 99% sure ftp can't as it is a request-based system. It does not have the granularity for fetching data as is needed by the emulators.

You might be able to create a script for it though, which fetches a rom file from the ftp and places it in the required location. Then deletes it afterwards or something. But you would still need dummy-files placed in the filesystem that initiate the script in the first place.

Then I have no idea. I routinely use a keyboard - without a hotkey set - and don't experience the behavior you're describing.

@derebo RetroPie logs every installation in $HOME/RetroPie-Setup/logs, can you look into the last log file to see if the xboxdrv installation was successful ? You can also re-run the installation to generate a new log file and then post the log file on pastebin.com.

    @peppe_h

Run this from any platform folder on the RetroPie:

    cat gamelist.xml | grep '<name>' | cut -d '>' -f2 | cut -d '<' -f1 > titles.txt

It will export all titles to titles.txt

@zering just to be clear you are saying to remap in Emulation Station or Retroarch?

Is there any way to backup my current mapping?

I have a PlayStation 4 Dual Shock controller that seems to not have this issue with the same mapping. The one with the issue is a Vilros classic PlayStation controller with two analog sticks.

What exactly 'not working' means ? EmulationStation doesn't start ? Games aren't working ? Installation is not completing ?
Please add more details about your setup, including the Ubuntu version and hardware details.

@dankcushions thank you for your suggestions and you're right. I've tried to change the gpu_mem but it still crash, just after a different number of exiting game.

So if there's no solution I tried a workaround, hope this could be useful to someone else. Not using Omxplayer I had that problem with some video preview that got sound but not video. As I told you before I noticed the problem was the codec profile. The lucky thing is that on W10 the thumbnails of videos (associated to VLC program) that have this issue show the VLC icon instead of the screenshot preview of the video so they were easily recognizable. I used a program (WinXHDVideoConverterDeluxe) to convert manually those videos (they were more than one thousand but the program runs fast e you can upload and launch them all togheter and just wait, the only boring thing was to select them all manually). I replaced the codec profile corrected videos and everything works fine. I made two tests of almost 4 hours and exactly 250 exiting game (but who counts, I'm going crazy, I know) each one and the issue didn't occurred.

The only thing that I noticed is that shutting down the system it took about 20 seconds of black screen before starting the power off process, technically why? Did I stress to much the system? And what do you thing, should I expect another crash somehow or maybe I'm safe?

    Thank you so much.
