At this point you really need to start using the search feature. These questions are very basic setup ones.

Last freebie: Use TAB key to access Mame controller configuration. Yes, you should have a keyboard handy when configuring Mame.

@battlecat said in Config file creation:

Does this mean that if I need to reset the retroarch.cfg it too will reset to defaults if I remove it?

Your original post is about ...configs/all/retroarch.cfg. If you delete it, RetroArch won't create a new one for you.

If you don't believe me, you can test it and see. :D Rename retroarch.cfg to a different name and execute the emulator you want. Then look at your ...configs/all/ directory to see if there's a new retroarch.cfg there.

Be aware that if you delete/rename the retroarch.cfg, the RetroArch will use its own defaults (what is default in its source code), but not the RetroPie defaults. Do you get what I mean?

When you reinstall RetroArch, like I suggested in my first response, you get a brand new retroarch.cfg with some presets made for RetroPie using.

ooohkay, I have no idea what that non-stop stuttering noise is. It's not the flipper sound, that's for sure.

So I was able to get my buddies RPi3 running RetroPie 4.0.2 this weekend, and after configuring one PS3 gamepad on the RPi, plugging in the second PS3 via USB worked flawlessly! All the issues I read about must have been regarding older distro versions of RetroPie. I was also able to get both gamepads working on the onboard Bluetooth of the RPi3! Thank you for the help @obsidianspider and @Lyle_JP!

Thanks meleu, I've changed that setting and it seems to have fixed my issue.

@edmaul69 , Thanks for that. At least there is some solution, maybe when I get more comfortable with linux and retropie i'll compile the kernel.

I've cloned my 8gb to a 64gb with win32diskimager, after that you can expand the partition with easuspartitionmanager.
    It works great ;)

@cyperghost thank you. That solved it. I set a permanent automount point for my HDD, then deleted my existing roms folder as I had no plans to store any on the pi SD card. Symlinked to the folder and I was good to go!

Is the pi connected to a LAN? I'm asking it because you can connect to to it via SSH and investigate what is happening. Maybe your bro needs to configure port forwarding in his router to let you connect to his pi...

@Kvitekvist said in Root Password prevents SSH and WinSCP:

@meleu So, press F4 + Any key, then: sudo nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config to undo the changes i did? Is this the right steps to get there?

I'm not sure if this was the only change you have made, but it seems the right thing to do.

BTW: Pressing F4 only is enough to exit emulationstation.

If your gamelist.xml is being over written you can check to see if you have "save meta data on exit" enabled (press your start button and go to 'settings' If I recall coreectly). If you do not disable it, emulationstation will overwrite your manual XML entries. Turn it off before you jump to prompt or ssh in to edit your game list.xml. You will also need to restart in order for your manual entriesnto appear as well.

I assume you're trolling me. I think I put it on Kiosk mode. I tried your Konami code, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. -_-

I should mention...I did that for about 10 seconds before realizing vfat sucks and committing the drive to ext4. Same principle though.

@meleu yeah. I call the retropie menu "settings" because the carbon had a gear logo on it and i named it settings in my theme.

This one can be marked as solved. I unplugged my wireless xbox receiver and the controller started working. I guess even though the xbox controller wasn't on just having the receiever plugged in cause it to choose that controller first and blocked the wii controller.
