wow this has been covered extensively here..but I know it is always a pain in the tail...

Using the genesis gx plus core..(the pico core WILL NOT work) make sure all your controllers are plugged in and are configured first!

Start the game... once game is loaded go the the retroarch menu by pressing select+X). in the QUICK MENU go to the controls menu. for player 2 (Port 2) set it to MD 6 button + 4-Way play (Teamplayer will work here oddly enough) and then back out. on the controller main menu select "Save game remap file". quit retroarch. reload the game..then test it (with friends of course!)

Problem is there are two type of multi-taps for the Mega Drive/Genesis. One for sports games made by EA sports (called Teamplayer)and another made for "general four player (non sports) games". Normally that means the 4-way play. It is hit and miss on the game..some wanted it in player two..some wanted it in player one. But it works for this game at least just like I typed above.

    Happy gaming! :D

@dankcushions it's a fresh setup so ssh is off. I'll look later to see if I can enable it.
Yea, soldered to the board. Maybe I damaged a component too.
UPDATE: I was cleaning the solder joints of the reset pins today. I also noticed I was testing from the 2nd hdmi port so that wasn't giving me a proper display. Maybe the rescue image did do its job. Seems to be working now on 1st hdmi port.

@owl-degree said in Initial install - Xbox 360 Wireless Analog sticks:

However, the right stick > left movement does not register. Should I simply presume it's broken?

I don't think so, try several times to register it, without pressing too hard on the joystick - just nudge it to the left.

Seems pretty straightforward to run a script from EmulationStation. Proof of concept, here is a crude 10-minute version I made using Hursty's "Bluray" theme. It already contains a "Power" system, so I just added a small script, uploaded a small .png of the DualShock controller and edited the gamelist.xml file.

    MAIN MENU (from Hursty):
    main menu.png

    SELECTION:
    selection.png

OUTPUT W/Pause (currently requires a keystroke instead of a button-press, but can modify this):
    ps4power-2020.04.14-17.24.46.png

    The simple script:

#!/bin/bash clear echo PS4 Dual-Shock Battery Level: cat /sys/class/power_supply/*/capacity echo read -p "Press Enter to continue"

Be sure that the script is set as executable.

Lastly, the es_settings.cfg entry for the "Power" menu item to appear:

    <system> <name>power</name> <fullname>Power Menu</fullname> <path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/power</path> <extension>.sh .SH</extension> <command>%ROM%</command> <platform>linux</platform> <theme>power</theme> </system>

Ideally, the output would be prettier and require a DualShock button to be pressed instead of the keyboard Enter key, but this will certainly work.

If anyone else has this issue, when booting up and remain in the "Welcome, no gamepads detected" I get constant 2.4MBps with absolutely no failure, found this by accident. In other menus I get from 0 to 1.0 with constant fails.

If you want only certain games to be rotated, then you can use a per-ROM configuration override to rotate the screen when playing them, without rotating the whole display via config.txt.
This only works for RetroArch - see more details here.

it's the built-in controller for the Retroflag GPi case (http://retroflag.com/GPi-CASE.html) - i think it's connected like a USB gamepad, though i'm not sure.

    thanks

@SpudsMcToole - I believe it should be there even on older versions. I don't mind giving you hand if it helps. As of late I have a little extra time due heterogeneous world events.

On your ES carousel there should be a stylized RetroPie logo as one of the selectable systems. Basically the same as selecting an emulator/core.

Then select RetroPie Setup -> Update RetroPie-Setup script. This should update your script to the current version.

Then select Manage packages -> Manage Core Packages.

Under Manage Core Packages select Emulationstation (Installed). From there you have the options to Udpate From Binary or Update From Source.

The wording might be slightly different and I left out the number options as they do seem to change occasionally but it should be generally the correct steps to get ES updated.

@Gnomx said in Raspberrypi zero !WH:

I think MK is ok for my purpose , but it's just for RPi 2th gen ,right?

No, it applies to any models after the 2 - the 1st model had less GPIO pins available.

SO as Capeman says , im gonna install ADAFRUIT RETROGAME , i should use existing pinout , or can use all pin on board?

I'm not sure, you should check the RetroGame's schematics, they might have a preferred wiring schema.

Next,if I'm on old Rp0 without wifi connection , is it possible make an offline install?

It depends on what packages you already have installed, but you can connect the PI Zero to the internet using a microUSB cable to your PC and configuring USB/Ethernet gadget mode (https://www.circuitbasics.com/raspberry-pi-zero-ethernet-gadget/).

@Impman66 said in Is WinSCP or Putty necessary?:

So it begs the question, is WinSCP, Putty, or any other "file sharing" program necessary?

no, there are 3 supported methods of copying roms, and you're simply using the third: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Transferring-Roms/#samba-shares
