@mitu my original post was 15 days ago. What i did was start all over from the beginning. Reformat card and load img back on card. I am now writing notes as to what i do if i make changes to anything. Like i mentioned, i am completely new to all this. I know I'll get better but for now its all learning. Anyway, I did get my spinner to work in tempest and Tron now

@docshady When using a normally open (n.o.) momentary switch "something else" has to keep the state and has to evaluate the signal from the GPIO. On a flip-switch (like yours) the switch itself keeps the state.

Eventually, it is a matter of taste / design decision of yours.

If you are uncertain: Experiment with both setups and then choose what you prefer most.

@crimson0087 I’m assuming you figured out how to get up and running? I’m in the same exact boat as you. 1st game I got had 3 bin files, a gdi, and a cue. I know redream says it supports bin/cue and gdi but when I try and run the game by using the gdi file the title shows up but it says that there are no games. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Wait... if i understand correctly the -rc it's stands for "readconfig" and in theory if you want to use a different config than the default one.
However it is actually yes... when mame it's executed it is he who automatically loads the mame.ini in the same path.

i don't even think readconfig takes an argument. but anyway, you don't need to use it because you know where mame.ini is stored.

I guess the only thing you can do is disable or enable reading of .ini files....

I created an account to say thanks and to also say I had better luck using "Rufus" to perform the iso to usb step.

That ISO to USB tool just didn't want to work for me.

Gparted was straight forward and I was able to resize my partition of my img so it would fit on another card.

@jedcooper Sorry, never got around to fixing it. My menu widgets are already disabled, but the issue persists. I'm assuming that it's a similar issue to the one people are reporting with widgets, but not sure what more to do with that information unfortunately.

My other approach.. has been to emulate SNES on my Wii, haha. For an unrelated matter, I'm getting a VGA666 board in the mail some time. I don't expect that it will make a difference with this particular issue, but I'll give it a try anyway and report back if it makes a difference.

My issue clearly had to do with pulseaudio, which I have no use for (at least for now!) on my current Raspberry Setup.

Your issue might have to do with the different HDMI modes. Have you looked into the config file for all the HDMI settings?

@drdave79 if /etc/emulationstation doesn't exist it would break standard retropie - that's where the carbon theme is kept. can you show a screenshot of how you're trying to navigate to it or something like that?

Do you know how to remove the "custom override" so the es_systems.cfg gets properly updated?

it shows you where it is in the error message - just delete the whole file. obviously that will remove all the custom changes you've made, so if you want to just fix this system you replace it with what's in /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg for the psp.

Does this happen even outside of EmulationStation ? If you exit EmulationStation and move your joystick left, does it restart the Pi ?
