My retropi card says it is supported if you install it "properly" how do I accomplish that?

Talk to the vendor that sold you the contraption, we're not offering support for scammers here.

If you wish to get support here in the forums, start with the official RetroPie image from https://retropie.org.uk/download.

@mitu Heya! As an update, I got it working! Worked with a friend of mine who is a Linux expert and he walked me through it step by step, which did include the steps that you had pointed out. Thanks so much for your help!

      @mitu They don't work at all. :(

I ran through the install instructions posted on the main page twice to be sure. Fresh RetroPie install on a 32GB card, updated everything RetroPie then right to the shutdown scripts. No go. So I did it again with a fresh install with no updates. Still no go. I also used Putty so I could copy and paste the commands with no chance of incorrectly typing them in.

The former dev said he hasn't touched them in over 16 months.

      EDIT for added info

Please don't double post, you already have a topic opened a couple of days ago on the subject, to which you already received some solutions - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/29928/.

Hi, sorry for this delayed reply.

I can confirm that the GPIO terminal pins as well as the USB ports do not serve power when the Pi is shut down with the PowerBlockling. I just tested it (again) with a Pi 4.

      Hope that helps!

@TXnschutz I do not distribute any ROMs. I played a lot of games for sure and Alien Syndrome is a nice one, works fine one several platforms were at least the Arcade versions seems the best one.

@mitu said in Custom safe shutdown text / screen:

@lesk No, you'll need to edit the /etc/rc.local file and replace the 1st line (which should have been added by the RetroFlag script) with the 2nd one. Use sudo nano /etc/rc.local to edit the file.

Okay thanks! I will give this a shot ^^

      Hi
ok did not know that there was 2 cases
i got this version + (nespi +) so for me all reset + safe on/off work
is it possible just to remove this two buttons and run them on long cables mount them on front ?
They got 6 pins on each buttons so i have to get 6 cables for each button? or some of them are dummy connections ?

@andku85 there are a bunch of working solution already posted in this forum as @mitu already said - best way would be the officia l script from the case producer. You can search for multi switch script for another working solution but this needs some editing skills

Glad you git it working. One minor niggle - rpi-update is no longer a recommended way to update your kernel/firmware, this is taken care by the normal OS/package updates. For the time when the problem was reported - immediately after the 3B+ launch - I think some improvements w.r.t the 3B+ model were added that were only available through the latest development kernel/firmware versions.
Anyway, keep an eye on the disk space and happy gaming!

As it turns out, the board with the safe shutdown circuitry was missing a resistor near the fan header, so the path that needed to be made to induce the script was not being completed. Retroflag was kind enough to send a replacement board, and now it works perfectly. No script modifications required. See the included picture for details.alt text
