@jdrassa @ruckage this would be an excellent addition! I believe we had this discussion about a month ago and having the ability to have wheel art and also possibly thumbnail to allow box art, 2wheel art, screenshot all to be displayed!

@jdrassa, I know this is a huge undertaking and not an immediate request, but if you do look into this, making the md have a true false option would be excellent. I am going to release a "special edition" of my theme so that users with wheel art in there "marquee" line of the gamelist can see that instead of the second system logo. If the md_marquee tag was True false, this could all be handled under one theme release.

Thanks as always for you great work, and indeed no rush on my thoughts.

To recapitulate, EmulationStation always crashes on startup when I have "ParseGamelistOnly" set to "true" with the following message:

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range'
    what(): basic_string::sucbstr: _pos (which is 27) > this->size() (which is 22)
    aborted

I'm using the latest EmulationStation version compiled from source to be able to use custom carousel themes. Of course I could just leave that setting set to "false" but that defeats the point of having the option.
Any ideas of what could be causing the problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm struggling with arcade emulators and romset ... Is it possible to go only with lr-fbalpha instead of mame ? (Can't find a clean romset including scrapped images for 0.02.97.40, so it's a kind of puzzle game)

    Panic over everyone.

I run an ls -a on the folders and found the cause of the problem, the files were hidden with a "._" prefix making them hidden.

Removed all those and the system returned to normal.

    Thanks all.

Ok just found a solution now it works.

    Used this way:

    sudo apt-get update

    sudo apt-get upgrade

    sudo apt-get install kodi

After that period no problems at all.

    THX

good job ;) i am happy it finally works for you.

@KillerQ It would just go in the same folder as the other roms, so if it's a folder called "favourite" within the NES directory, it would be placed in nes/favourite/favourite.gb, then in the gamelist.xml the path would be <path>./favourite/favourite.gb</path>.

@kjcraig77 Wrong place to ask, man. Go ask the person that uploaded the image you have. I'm sure he/she/they provides great support.

Unfortunately, there have always been emulation issues regarding this game. Before 2004 it was completely unplayable on any emulator past the abandoned factory. It might help to raise this issue over at the libretro forums, as they're more likely to have insight into the nuts and bolts of this.

@kmickelow I am no part of Kodi Foundation or Team, I just make Raspbian compatible Kodi packages for a while now, and make them available for anybody that wants to use it in Raspbian based systems like RetroPie.

Kodi 17.3 is now available for update.

For anyone that stumbles upon this post in the future, the fix was to delete all instances of gamelist.xml (can be found by issuing sudo find / -name gamelist.xml), the downloaded images sudo rm -fv ~/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/nes/*, and then ran the command again.

@mediamogul You hit the nail on the head. I tried an older TV and had no delay. My living room TV is new and must have a setting buried somewhere. Thank You!

I have just had a great idear or maybe it might be way too much outta the box loll please anyone let me know if this can be done

I have just saw a post about someone who want to start emulationstation on his PI from ssh on his cell phone ( https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/5941/start-emulationstation-with-ssh/3 ) and that gave me this idear:

On my laptop i am runing ubuntu ( i do not want or need ubuntu help here, that is not the question ). So what if i install retropie/emulationstation on my laptop then with my raspberry pi a could SSH into my laptop and start emulationstation then import the display back into my raspberry pi 3 or export it from my laptop to the raspberry pi 3.

The reason of this is that since i have my PI3 since 2 or 3 months ago at most i think, it is what i am using as a multimedia for retropie and kodi and browsing the internet with raspbian with pixel. My PI3 is connected on my tv with HDMI ( that use to be my laptop setup ) but it is why i bought a PI3, to remove my laptop from tv connection and only use the Pi3 on the tv itself.

So, since my laptop is way more powerfull then my PI3 ( witch i honeslty really enjoy everything about that credit card size box ) i was wondering if it could be better to run retropie from it but start it from my Pi3 through ssh and have it played on my tv without the need to connect back my laptop on my tv with HDMI. I know that setup would be a lot more easy as i would only need to install retropie on my laptop then connect it on the tv but....... that is not what i want.

You guys are PRO's and i am pretty sure you can help me achieve this setup and it could be working. With that setup, i would not have any PSP and N64 lagging problem loll. My laptop has 4GB of RAM.

Am i getting crazy with this or creative loll ???

the post above has some merit..

"... I immediately clicked "verify only" and got the error "Verification failed at sector: 8192".
    Then I tried the following:
READ the contents of the SD card back to a file TEST.IMG.
WRITE the file TEST.IMG back to the SD card.
    Run "verify only".
This time, the verify succeeded without any errors."

I performed the same steps and got the same outcome.
It took 3-4x as long this time to read, write, verify the image.
Some of the NES Roms now play, still working on it
Thanks again for everyones help :)
