@Danorak1981 First off don't use NOOBS. If you are going to install KODI on a separate card you should use a lightweight JEOS (Just enough operating system) for it. The most popular / supported are OSMC and Librelec.

Maybe go with Librelec as OSMC has a lot of customisations peculiar to itself.

I've not used a wireless controller with KODI, so can't advise but I would always advise people to have a USB keyboard for the PI as it always comes in handy.

The best smartphone app for controlling KODI is the official KORE app, another is YATSE but it is a bit bloated these days. Also bear in mind I stopped using a phone app for KODI as it eats battery life like crazy as it works over the wireless network and is constantly broadcasting a WiFi signal. You should get a mini keyboard like the Rii i8+, I have one for each of my KODI Pis.

@chrisdodgen said in Oops, I broke Retropie Setup. Question about re-imaging.:

Can I just use windisk32 and rewrite the image directly over this one without doing anything else?

Absolutely yes! When you write an image to a SD card all the previous data is overwritten.

@simonster yesss thanks so much! That was it, I had to renter the config and configure p2, I thought that for some reason if I re enter the config menu it would start over!

MAME libretro works with the arcade buttons, mame4all doesn't, neo-geo also works correctly, did not test with the rest.

    Thanks a lot. :D

@Ecks if your sink is attached properly you might not need a fan. I don't have one, but if it makes you feel better, go for it. I would not waste the time nor the effort.

    Well, here's what I'll do.

I'm going to try and fuss with the existing build for a bit, and if I can't fix it, I will get a larger SD card (not enough room on 8gb anyway) and use that for a fresh install of retropie from your supported builds. I assume that Retropie doesn't care how many gigs of storage I give it, does it? There's not like a 32 bit / 64 bit -style limitation on how big the SD card can be, is there?

At which point, i will probably be back asking a million and a half questions about how to set that up!

    Thanks.

EDIT: I dunno if this helps anyone, but I've discovered that this problem is isolated to only Retroarch itself and it's Liberato-based emulators. Non-liberatro based emulators work fine, but the retroarch config or any lr- emulators crash on startup with no error message.

@meleu Well funny thing is that I fixed it for now. And I installed it via Raspian Desktop the first time.

@RedBatman Why are you resurrecting this old thread when you have a current one? Why don't you try the fix and see for yourself?

The command in that link didn't work for me, I got it to work with:
    /opt/retropie/supplementary/scraper/scraper -add_not_found=true -append=true -download_images=false -image_dir="images" -image_path="images" -image_suffix="" -img_format="png" -img_workers=0 -no_thumb=true -thumb_only=false -thumb_suffix=""

    from the rom dir
and it saved a gamelist.xml with the correct image tags in the same dir
not sure if all the above flags are needed, was just happy it finally saved the images tags

For informations, screenshot on screenscraper are in native résolution. Don't expect to have a full HD picture from a gameboy screenshot for exemple.

All picture you can found in 'better' quality are just a upscale of That.

If i was in your shoes and i had spare heatsinks laying around i would still put one on a Pi Zero just as a safety precaution and also like you said you are using a case for the Zero which leaves no ventilation for it as well.
Overall always best to be safe than to be sorry after.

Now all I have to do is find a pretty theme I like rather than the nasty black Carbon.

I'm sorry for posting up new threads. The "black screen of death" problem I created a new thread for here:
    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/10640/new-black-screen-of-death

The original error I had, about the invalid pointer, still occurs occasionally. I'm also having a new problem, where upon returning to the menu after playing a game, my D-pad acts like its stuck. I remember this being a problem before because of the raphnet NES adapter. It's weird. My whole system acts like the "update all installed packages" essentially did a format and fresh install.

@TheGamer What games in particular are you having issues with. The original NES had lots of slow down, and emulators are doing exactly what the original NES did. If the sound doesn't sound choppy, but sounds normal, its just the original slow down in the game.

As far as the EU vs US, EU games ran 4% slower.

    Technically there is one:

    https://github.com/libretro/reicast-emulator

But there is very unlikely it's in a state it would function on a pi.
