@epd probably. I am on a 15" screen and it is a noticeable change. Try fear effect. When in a game the character is really noticeable because the background is crap so the charater looks good compared to it when you turn on the enhaced mode.

@Sano said in Exit to Main Menu instead of System menu:

I see a major flaw in this :
If people just browse games without playing, the loop will continue.
Couldn't it be more efficient to look at ES screensaver, in order to stop video preview after a period of time ?
Other solutions include : video without sound, or a fixed number of loops.
Just my point of view :)

Looking forward to see your theme.

"Tell me what you need, I'll explain how you can do without it".
Too much time on linux IRC channels I think ;)

The browsing issue is a good and valid point I had not thought of, hmmm.....

I had thought about doing videos without sound but don't like that solution for 2 reasons:

remaking all of the videos would be a pain many people I talked to liked having the sound during selection as it helps bring back some of the nostalgia

I also do have a screensaver in place but unless I really shorten the delay it doesn't help much with some of the game noises being obnoxious at times.

I think I might actually be ok with a fixed number of loops. However, when I looked through the theme documentation I didn't see any way or option to set this. Is there a property or something I missed that can be used to do this?

    Thanks,

@DarkWolf mhhh i have not test the ps4 controller yet. With my Arcadestick and retropie i think it is approximately every 10th step. With recalbox i got the trouble more often. (that is the reason i give retropie a try again)

@Joshua2005777 The default view in the File Manager (Midnight Commander) should show the user folder. Assuming you are using the SD card to store your files, your ROM files should be located inside the folder Retropie\roms\<System Name>.

    @spruce_m00se

The included libretro Read Me file begins with:

    Vice 3.0 LIBRETRO WIP
Very WIP port of VICE 3.0 for libretro .
minimal Libretro arch port (minimal nuklear GUI)
Use it at you own risk !

It's first brought up on the forums here. It really doesn't look like a viable option at the moment.

    @rapidfire

if i delete a rom within emulationstation does it also delete all the scraped data for it aswell?

    No, it doesn't

if i want to backup all my data from the sd card using samba shares. which folder contains the scraped info?

On the pi it is /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation or /home/pi/.emulationstation and via samba share it is (I guess) configs/all/emulationstation
this (or these) contains 2 folders with scraped data:

    gamelists downloaded_images
  • System locked permissions denied.

@SuperMagicom said in switch between Emulation Station & Attract Mode:

There are scripts for this in the Motion Blue base image.

    thanks for the help,

are these scripts available without having to download the Motion Blue image?
if so where can i get them?

@meleu ok I have worked it out,
if you set the curl option as -0 (number zero) then you get screens of code, which to someone who doesnt know what they are doing looks correct.
if you set it as -o (lowercase letter o) then you just get the data transfer specs, and the next stage works.
I have now installed it successfully, perhaps you could put a note in your readme for newbies like me so that they dont make that mistake?

First time poster, new to retropie.
When using a samba share from a windows pc, I can add and rename rom files but it won't let me delete them. I receive a message saying I don't have permission. Does anyone know which permissions I need to change for this?

@steptoe are you talking about the RetroPie-Manager?

If yes, be aware that the tool is made to manage ROMs only in the usual paths (which is ~/RetroPie/roms and ~/RetroPie/BIOS). If you want to make the tool point to the external USB drive my suggestion is to create symbolic links.

    Maybe something like this:

    ln -s path/to/roms/dir/on/your/usb/drive ~/RetroPie/roms ln -s path/to/BIOS/dir/on/your/usb/drive ~/RetroPie/BIOS
