No, Emulationstation doesn't have the ability to run shaders, that's something specific to RetroArch.

    Fair enough.

@ballboff Didn't get that far :). Looks it's using an older release of RetroPie. Scammers.

Most 'pre-installed images' are classed as shovelware. Cram as much as they can onto an SD card with no actual effort in getting it running correctly first and with minimal, if any, after sales support including systems that most people won't want or even use and also won't take full advantage of t he RetroPie

Some systems are as 'proof'. It works but don't expect much, if anything from the emulation. Good examples are 3DO or SEGA Saturn and PSX2. They WILL run, but not at any speed worth trying to play

The same also applies for hard drives. You will never get what the actual size is quoted due to filesystem overheads and lose even more space depending what filesystem you format them to. Some take more space than others, some are very efficient filesystems, some are not

Hey bud. Don't know if you saw it or not, but figured I'd send you the link to the SNES compatibility list for the Pi Zero. :)

@jozzy1 Not specific to Retropie, but with owning a number of these controllers, I believe it has to do with the way the newer 4.14 kernel polls/received and processes ID data from the G3W which is a multimode controller. You can switch modes by holding the blue “home”button for 5-10 seconds. You will see the controller disconnect as “Xbox 360....” and reconnect with a gamesir ID. Then you can set the bindings for the controller config if not there already.

@zerojay I'm already using 640x480, in config file it says it is the minimum. Main issue I'm having is the low fps - on empty map it could vary from 15 to 20 (if I'll open top bar menu then it drops to 6 fps).

Ya I have been looking into python, but instead of 'sleep' replaced that with a 'sync;sync' to check if the system is being written to. (Was told this is much better to do it twice as the fist time it might wight some code back or something I cant remember why for sure. ) But it starts to play a video prior to the rest of the code., so the video starts and then while its playing the shutdown is started and the actual shutdown is not ran until it get info back that the video is finished. This way the video can be any length I want. :)

Going to look more into python and better methods of doing the shutdown. Once finished I plan to send them the code so they can update it. Any help is apreciated. :)

@mitu said in RetroPie controller set up issue:

@ranma The problem in this topic is specific to the xpad driver, which powers the Xbox 360/One controllers, it's not a general one.
Basically, after an update of kernel, the xpad RetroPie driver was not installed and overwritten by the default one, which is sometimes incomplete depending on the model. This has been reported after the 4.4 was released, but was fixed some time ago https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/commit/f6e5a6d70512fc796a4fb535ddf1b44ea985db47.

Oh I see. I assumed as the Logitech F710 switch had to be set to X input rather than D that this issue was effectively the same as mine. I'll start a new thread when I decide to have another attempt and if the problem resurfaces. Many thanks. :-)

I had a check of the RGUI and that's showing the savefile setting as Content Dir as @mitu said.

I've had a look for hidden folders and such like, and searched for ".srm" within my external memory stick (as well as the microSD card within the Raspberry Pi, but still no joy.

I was a little confused by the runcommand/verbose logging suggestion - I thought I had done it but I couldn't then find a log file to check out?

    Hi Simonster,

thanx for your response and sorry for my late reply. I picked up the project now and tried your command lines. I believe they are actually configured the same, but I do not think that is the problem. If I run the jstest /dev/input/js0, I just see multiple randome records on the screen being populated as if the buttons are pressed, but they are not. I removed every player2 connections, and only have the button 8 + gdn connected; now the cmd line still shows btn 8 and btn 7 being pushed eventhough I though nothing. I believe the xm10 panel must be faulty....

@melbmatt50 said in Retropie issues with WiFi setup and Scraper:

Now during startup it asks for a login and password which I would rather it didn't so I want to disable that.

It's enough to login once - after the upgrade - and re-configure auto-login using sudo raspi-config. Unfortunately that's part of Raspbian and it's not under RetroPie's control. See this topic for solutions to this problem.

Secondly I got a 64gb sd card so I could load more stuff on it but etcher won't verify it after burning the image to it and I get the following message during installation on my raspberry pi 3 model b+ Kernel panic-not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179,2). If you can help me I would be grateful. Its a sandisk ultra 64gb class 10 card.

The error seems to indicate badly/imcomplete written image. If the verification doesn't work, maybe the SD card is faulty ?
