@reto Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

You provided little information about your system.

@youxia said in Using "super resolutions" with a crt - any way to correct the emulationstation aspect ratio?:

Super resolutions are used for GPIO and HDMI outputs, composite needs different configs.

Ya I know, I got my composite setup perfect, but the only way to get rid of the rainbow moire on dithered textures was to use a shader made specifically for outputting over the pi’s comp plug, doesn’t add much blur, but it’s def not perfect. Was hoping somebody figured out how to hack this res into the yellow plug, haha. Wishful thinking.

    What lights are on?
Certain cases block the HDMI port partially. Remove the case.

If you have just one solid red light, that means everything is fine the Pi just won't boot.

The Pi4 support is currently being worked on, the advmame module is not currently - as-is - compatible with the PI4.

Has anyone gotten this to work? I see there are video tutorials regarding getting art on systems however this is a "Collection" and could draw from multiple systems and emulators. When just adding a system with new art there are ROM folders for the ROMS...this won't have that. Anyone have a solution yet for this? (Im trying to add art to the Tronkyfrank themes "collections" but can't figure it out.

@privatelupo If you're targeting a PC, disabling Vulkan might not be desired. The build options for RetroArch are set in build function of the install script, so it can be patched easily.

    @mitu

Hey thanks for your help, I actually have solved the problem via first installing raspbian then retropie following the video below after installing with NOObs and now I everything works as intended.

Still have no idea why the boot didn't work for me but at this point I am more interested in relaxing and playing some lovely 8bit games on my Picade. May be I can bump this later on when my curiosity kicks back in.

    Have a great day.

Sorry, just wanted to post if someone maybe knew that something has been changed recently. Also, i found a workaround so was more of a heads up.

Pi Model or other hardware: Pi3b+
    Power Supply used: original
RetroPie Version Used: 4.5.1 with setup 4.5.13
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
    USB Devices connected: keyboard
    Controller used: sn30pro
Error messages received: just jumped back to menu when launching
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log: forgot about that before building from source
File: all games, including scummvm GUI

@mitu Reinstall RetroArch didn't solve the problem. I am starting to consider reinstall RetroPie from scratch.

U can always just take the *.bin *.BIN from the es_systems.cfg

    <system> <name>psx</name> <fullname>PlayStation</fullname> <path>/media/usb0/roms/psx</path> <extension>.cue .cbn .img .iso .m3u .mdf .pbp .toc .z .znx .CUE .CBN .IMG .ISO .M3U .MDF .PBP .TOC .Z .ZNX</extension> <command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 _SYS_ psx %ROM%</command> <platform>psx</platform> <theme>psx</theme> </system>

@tackett1980 said in Finishing this build and have some random UI questions.:

1: is there any way to disable the settings menu when launching a rom while in kiosk mode? The “press A to config” thing is what I’m talking about when you load it up. I don’t want his kids accidentally getting into this.

You can disable the Runcommand launch menu from the RetroPie setup Configuration/Tools - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/#configuring-runcommand

2: is there a way to disable the retroarch menu in kiosk mode? The holding select and A menu. Again there are sensitive settings in here and I don’t want his kids accidentally messing with them.

For that you can remove/comment the input_menu_toggle_btn settting from your controller's configuration file in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads. This will disable the button, leaving other hotkeys intact.
I'd also disable the reset button, it could easily be triggered with the hotkey (input_reset_btn).

3; I scraped all the mame roms but for some reason the metadata game titles all have tags at the end. Freaking (USA) and (rev 1.2abc feat. Nellie) etc. Is there an easy way to delete these other than to edit each roms meta data individually, which would take me literally weeks to do?

That would be the easier to do from the scraper, instructing it to remove that info. The script you found might work.

Thank you for the reply. Before I saw you replied I tried reinstalling the drivers using the method you so happened to post in the thread I linked at the top. That worked for me. I will say I installed drivers 340 instead of 440 so that could of been my issue.

For anyone that runs into this problem in the future here is a guide to install Nvidia drivers the way mitu recommended in this thread.

just use mames gui to set the controls you want for this game. If you do have a five button layout i can tell you how to map it. if you dont have a five button layout best to use the mame internal mapping for this game.
