just use mames gui to set the controls you want for this game. If you do have a five button layout i can tell you how to map it. if you dont have a five button layout best to use the mame internal mapping for this game.

@markyh444 Okay. Mitu gave me a starting point to work from so I will take his advice and go from there. If I need further assistance I'll be sure to take the time to collect the necessary information first. Thanks for your responses.

  • Dreamcast (reicast) multiplayer split screen and rendering options

I know this is an older thread, but I wanted to basically document what I've learned so far with respect to reicast and multi-player split-screen games.

Outtrigger on split screen works flawlessly, while Re-volt and Toy Commander have issues with player 1 (top half).. very jittery, and it can go completely black in some cases.

If I go to the reicast settings screen (after clicking +START REICAST in the ES Dreamcast screen) and change the 'frame skipping' option from 0 to 2, Re-volt and Toy Commander run fine in split-screen mode. There's a slight decrease in smoothness obviously, but there's no major jittering or blanking of the top-half of the screen. Also, I should note that both of these games run flawlessly when it's just one player (and that's without any frame skipping).

This is a recent version of reicast, updated 3 days ago with retropie_setup.sh.

Input Overlays as I understand them are not ideal for this. I can see in the examples that static images are manipulated across the display, but they are still static images. Say I wanted to implement a timer that hangs out in the corner during gameplay - I would have to configure logic to swap out images for each digit of the timer every time increment. That's a bit much! I'm just looking for some way to add my own system text, similar to how the frame counter, fps, or memory utilization can be optionally displayed on the OSD.

As for the latter point, it seems like reaching out to the memory domains is something you can do in libretro according to the API, but I'm not sure how to set up a script that would assess memory state as it is executed - is there any kind of next_frame event or otherwise that could be used to fire off a script to check? There are numerous layers in the system, each with their own sets of capabilities, scripts, and events, so I'm not sure which layer I want to be targeting to get this kind of functionality.

@Jimi007 Ok so I've answered my own question. It was right in front of me
Using the amiberry conf file the options are

    default_horizontal_centering

You can use this option to enable Smart Horizontal Centering by default.

    Possible values: yes/no

    Default value: no

    Example: default_horizontal_centering=yes
    default_vertical_centering

You can use this option to enable Smart Vertical Centering by default.

    Possible values: yes/no

    Default value: no

    Example: default_vertical_centering=yes

Added the lines and all good

    Ok,l got it.

Joust found the Topic to lr-psx_reARMed in the Retro-Achievments-Community.
Only CUE/BIN is supported, PBPs cannot be hashed.

So i will probably change back to BIN/CUE at least for the SingleDisc-Games ;)

Try to see if it's happening on other systems also. Can you upload your retroarch.cfg (from /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg) to pastebin.com ?

Testing the frame rate, stayed a steady 60fps..
No clue where the sound issue is coming from but it's always done it with this game..

Ohhhh thanks. Yup I would have totally been making a “how do I fix this” thread if you hadn’t said that.

@mitu Ah, OK. I thought perhaps I was just missing some kind of extension or plugin or something related to the setup that I could download/add that would allow it to find whatever it was missing.

@mitu said in How Can I Copy/Paste Scripts in my Retropie?:

Enable SSH and use Putty to run commands from your PC - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/SSH/.

Using putty worked beautifully. Such a time saver, once you can figure out the technical part of getting everything set up (but I already had SSH going for my FTP client, so I was good there). Thanks!

@Darksavior ooh, sounds promising. I am waiting for a Pi model that can fully run MK2 and UMK3 at current emulation.

Maybe even Killer Instinct? I am wondering what OpenGL on Pi4 does for games over what Pi3B+ does.
