@fryguy1 Please don't post links to ROMs or ROM sites.
Not sure why this reply was needed, since @Folly already provided a solution in one of their earlier posts, but I guess the more the merrier.

@Nismo You're welcome! I'm sorry it took me so long to set aside some time to test it, it's been a busy week. As for temperature, my guess is that the v4 version will have temperature problems, while the v5 version will not. However, the fact that the v5 version isn't playing your videos isn't good, and I'm going to look into that a bit more, but I'm hoping @fieldofcows will be able to chime in on that.

Yes, I know this is an old thread, but tronkyfran is my favorite es theme. However, there are a few systems that aren’t covered. Any chance that this will ever be updated again?

@ExarKunIv @cyperghost Good to hear. Thanks for testing out the new changes.

Me neither. If bitbucket does support such a feature, it could be useful to future revisions of the scriptmodule.

Now I will update the scriptmodule in the PR for the RetroPie project. :-)

@Soryn79 said in Quick and easy guide for adding music to Emulatonstation on RetroPie. Noob friendly!:

      I recommend changing:

      while pgrep omxplayer >/dev/null; do sleep 1; done (sleep 10; mpg123 -Z /home/pi/bgm/*.mp3 >/dev/null 2>&1) & emulationstation #auto

to this: (the --no-splash is optional)

      emulationstation --no-splash & while pgrep omxplayer >/dev/null; do sleep 1; done (mpg123 -Z /home/pi/bgm/*.mp3 >/dev/null 2>&1) #auto

Changing it so that it starts after ES loads just makes more sense to me. This makes sure that the music will always start 1 second after the video ends regardless of video length.

Hi there, I tried your version and whilst it works beatifully on startup, it breaks emulationstation when pressing F4, it just hangs on a blank screen.

I thought I'd let you know.

      Any ideas?

      Best!
      Luca

Hi there, I really like your theme, however my stars are not filling according to ratings in the metadata - any ideas how to fix this? Also the game description's last line gets cropped by the ratings container, perhaps make the stars a bit smaller? Thanks!

Today I managed to test all of the components outside the case, and everything works with my test Pi. Running off the battery without a booster works just fine with a Zero.

      0_1505063029610_Photo Sep 10, 11 32 33 AM.jpg

Cranking up the volume in RetroArch makes the piezo loud enough to hear for general gaming, even if it's not quite high fidelity.

Everything plays really nicely now that I'm using the board where I soldered to the chip pads instead of the old "make your own test pad" method.

Next up I need to make everything fit in the actual case. First up, removing unnecessary stuff from a Pi Zero. This looks awful, but it works. If anyone has tips on removing the USB ports, HDMI port, or camera connector in a cleaner manner, please let me know.

Every little bit of thinness is going to help with this build.

@hubbachubba looks like you're having problems for editing scripts on windows and then trying to run them on Linux.

Something like what this guy was having here.

Also, keep in mind what I posted on the OP:

UPDATE: The method described here became outdated after @pjft implemented custom collections to EmulationStation.

I'll keep the post for historical reasons, but I recommend you to use the ES custom collection feature instead.

@Global-Moderators could you guys please lock this thread? The trick in the OP became outdated and this topic exists only for historical reasons. Thanks in advance.
