      @pmdci

      One thing that Iv'e read should improve (some)things is editing this file,

      sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/bluetooth.target.wants/bluetooth.service

      look for a line like the following and make it like below.
      (maybe make a backup copy of the file first if you want)

      ExecStart=/usr/lib/bluetooth/bluetoothd --noplugin=sap

      Iv'e been messing around with RPi4 bluetooth and my DS4 controllers recently and that is now part of my setup steps.

      @jimi007 Ok, so, I was an OG Amiga user. I had a 500, 2000, and a 3000. Amiga was made long before any console has force feedback of any kind. So, why would there be any vibration response in any Amiga game ever?

      I guess I am trying to figure out why you are expecting vibration from a system that never had it. It just seems on par with expecting stereo surround sound from an Atari 2600.

      Connect it in Xinput or Switch mode, re-configure it in EmulationStation, and see if the issue persist.

      @rafaz182 having the same issue with 4.7.1. Downgraded to 4.6 with a new flash but stopped working after doing an "apt upgrade" on 4.6 - did this fix you posted worked on 4.7.1?

      @spaceace said in Bluetooth RetroPie Setup Script Issues:

      Hi, All.

      Thank you for this thread. I found it AFTER I clicked the button to order my controller! I now have the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ controller working flawlessly on a Raspberry Pi 4B, with RetroPie 4.7.1 on updated OS.

      Before I attempted to pair, the pad was connected via USB to the Ultimate Software application for a firmware update. I also configured a Switch profile, with star(★) as turbo button.

      I followed these steps before pairing, too. I consider these safe steps, as it only disables an unused SIM card driver and delays bluetooth start for two seconds at boot.

      So, then...
      $ sudo nano /lib/systemd/system/bluetooth.service
      $ sudo nano /lib/systemd/system/bthelper@.service
      $ sudo rm /etc/udev/rules.d/99-bluetooth.rules
      $ sudo reboot
      $ sudo /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh
      Configuration / Tools -> bluetooth
      hack OFF
      power on controller by holding Y + start one second (Switch mode)
      hold in pair button for three seconds
      leds will rotate like knight rider
      Register and Connect to Bluetooth Device
      on "Searching" screen, pressing some buttons can help
      choose "Pro Controller"
      DisplayYesNo
      Setup the udev rule
      hold start three seconds to turn pad off
      reboot
      turn on controller
      configure input
      GOOD

      I have the pad in Switch mode. To select the profile with turbo, press both sticks (L3+R3) and the heart/home button will light up. Hold a button and press star(★) to enable/disable turbo. It will stay in Switch mode with profile, so now all you have to do is hold the start button to turn it on or off.

      Hope that helps. Cheers.

      It works fine Smith DS4. Later I'll give it a try using a sixaxis controller.
      @spaceace thank you so much!!!

      Sixaxis works as well!!!

      Solved it.

      For anybody wondering, you must delete the fle SDLPoP.ini
      run prince to generate it again (rename to .ini)
      uncomment the gamecontroller line
      download the file https://github.com/gabomdq/SDL_GameControllerDB/blob/master/gamecontrollerdb.txt
      into the same folder where prince is.

      Voila'!

      Dietpi on Orange Pi zero 2w.

      Thanks, I'll try!

      For my N30, SN30 and my P30 mod kit. I'll update this post when tried. And I'm writing this to find the topic tomorrow evening 😉

      Edit: I needed to activate the flashing status.
      Followed the rest of your steps though. Did not successfully and stably connect the N64 mod kit yet.

      Edit: Best ways of working to connect 8bitdo modkit Bluetooth controller with Retropie on the Orange Pi Zero 2w, so far…

      Do not install blueman-manager.
      Do not connect via Bluetoothctl in the terminal.

      Use Retropie Bluetooth menu to connect to the controller. Assure the /var/lib/bluetooth/MACADDRESS/ does not contain the controller device you wish to connect. Delete the controller file, and also from the cache folder, if any issues occur.

      Hope this helps any future Dietpi users.

      That usually happens if the L2/R2 are registered as axis,

      Yes, that is the issue.

      Try re-installing xpad from RetroPie-Setup and see if the mapping in EmulationStation works.

      I did try that. Didn't fix the issue.

      @jplank Glad you got it sorted out.
      I did test with my old SN30 - turns out a firmware update makes it able to switch modes - and pairing always worked (either in D-Input or X-Input mode). I couldn't point my finger on it, but the connect mode might have been the culprit - interfering with a the scan used for pairing by the BT module.

      Its always the last thing. Must have had some kind of hardware issue. reflashing my ssd has solved any issues. no idea what the original cause was. Some random little glitch is my guess. I was trying to avoid reflashing because of how far along I was in config, but backed it up and restoring it now that the controllers are all working. Thanks for attempting to help me h2805270, i appreciate it.
