@JJRambo the point is that only the creator knows what is in his creation.
This concerns all kind of things, not only a retropie-image.
So i have no idea who you could ask to get a really good answer.
You could ask people somewhere else what they are guessing.....but in usual it does not help.

Oh that's interesting. I'm using the default driver, I guess rotation did not work for emulationstation when it was done through config.txt. However adding the --screenrotate, it definitely worked.

I'm also looking at the script they provided to set it upt.
      https://github.com/goodtft/LCD-show/blob/master/MPI4008-show

      sudo echo "dtoverlay=ads7846,cs=1,penirq=25,penirq_pull=2,speed=50000,keep_vref_on=0,swapxy=0,pmax=255,xohms=150,xmin=200,xmax=3900,ymin=200,ymax=3900" >> ./boot/config.txt.bak

Guess I need to be using the ads7846 driver instead of the default one. For now I'm just happy it worked. Thanks.

@Morotezuki - I would definitely check your local laws especially for something worthwhile as non-profit that helps other people. I've seen it more than once where you can legally rent arcade machines for non-profit use in the US. The key being a rental or even donations for non-profits/charities.

After working with local law enforcement for 20+ years they would be hard pressed to turn something like that over to the State's Attorney or Attorney General for prosecution let alone those offices wanting to take the man hours and resources away from serious felony crimes. I've watched street cops make decisions off intent (was it good or bad) and they chose not to cite any type of citation, ticket or arrest due to that intent. When there's no unlawful intent they will usually leave it to the parties to find a resolution. Intent makes all the difference in deciding how to proceed.

You can actually sue someone throwing paper on your lawn (or anything for that matter) but it introduces two challenges. Finding a lawyer to take your case would be near impossible (try calling a few and explain a weird situation, they'll have you off the phone before you can say prosecute) let alone a judge to rule in favor of a crime that opens the judicial system to abuse and tying up courts for petty crimes.

It's like staying off the FBI's top 50 list of crimes. If you do it's more than likely you'll never see them knocking on your door, literally true. Should we go after the Pac-Man player trying to feed the homeless or a "new" serial killer or drug dealer dropping 5 keys of coke on the streets weekly. No contest.

I imagine most of the members on the forums use ROMs illegally but the laws don't deter us old gamers much from doing what we love and I don't imagine they care that much.

Anyway I would check your laws as there's usually a legal workaround especially when folks are trying to help law enforcement, juveniles or feeding the homeless, hungry, etc. They aren't there to strictly enforce the law to the letter or make a community miserable when it comes to doing good. Basically doing good for a community at large is a healthy great idea. I wouldn't give up trying to do good things! :)

Worth it not to have to worry about a sensor bar. I'm getting them for my arcade, but would also like to use them for my computer. Moving the sensor bar around could cause problems with the wire.

@fluffypillow Perfect, exactly what I was looking for. I knew about purpose of "./", "[ ]" is new to me though. Going to work on fixing the system logo sizes, other than that the rest of the theme seems to be as it should. Thanks again!

      @mitu said in Retro-Bit Sega Mega Drive/Genesis 2.4 GHz Wireless Controller incompatible/issues:

Start the gamepad in a different 'mode' and see if the button is recognized as a gamepad input.

I have found 6 different wireless modes:

      Key Mode LEDs Y Switch Strobe X Mac 3,4 Z ? 2,3 A Android 1 B D-Input 3 C ? 1,3

Switch pairs and is recognised as a controller in configure input, but holding down a button doesn't do anything, so I can't bind anything.

Mac mode, holding down home shows 'keyboard' but when I go in to key binding it lets me bind the home button. It doesn't let me bind the Z and C buttons.

Z,A,B,C mode all have the same issue with the home button as described above.

There is a wired X-Input mode (LED 2) which allows me to bind all buttons but I can't figure out if there's a wireless version of this.

There is a wired PS3 mode which also allows me to bind all buttons, but I also can't figure out how to get it to pair wirelessly in this mode.

Is there no way to manually bind whatever keyboard button it thinks it is?

Is this a bug with anything else, or a fundamental issue with the hardware?

@muldjord I will give this a go to see if I can find out what is going on.
Either that or I will manually edit the files with the correct revision names from my previous scrapes.

Appreciate the help @muldjord and @mitu

I'm not sure if it's possible to remove a help option, but you can set a blank (transparent) image for the last/first slot of the help buttons row and then shuffle the other buttons left (or right).
You can also remove the mapping for the button from the /home/pi/.emulationstation/es_input.cfg file - make sure you back it up first, just in case editing it goes awry.

@mitu said in Adding Cart Support in EmulationStation?:

@AlphaBetaPie as far as themeing is concerned, images can be displayed through md_marquee or md_image tags. So pick one of them to display the image you want in a theme.

Thanks for the follow- up. So here is the thing. I'm using the video view of a theme, which displays my game clip and a cover image. If I look in the bracket for that section of the XML, I see videos are using the **me_video **and the covers are using md_image to pull whatever content is in the "box2dfront" and "videos" folders in my ROM directory. I do have a third section, which is for the marquee (which is supported in this theme). It uses the **md_marquee **to pull the content from the "screenmarquee" folder.

So is there a way to reassign the cart scans to a different folder by changing or creating a new label? If I want to release this update, folks will have delete their marquees (if they even have that folder setup), then copy/paste their cart scans and put them in the marquee folder to make it (which is what I did just as a quick fix). That might be confusing to some. Would be cleaner if there was a cart folder with some kind of label like md_carts or something like that. Or does ES only support so many labels per view, and I've simply run out?

      Thanks!

Apologies for the thread necromancy but I was running into a similar problem as the OP using EmulationStation on Windows; emulators weren't launching for some reason even though they worked fine when I ran them manually. I found this thread and tried making sure I was using full paths & %ROM_RAW% and etc., and the emulators still just weren't launching. I was just about to give up when, when I had the thought that perhaps the space in the directory name my emulators were in might be mucking things up and sure enough--I renamed the directory without a space and everything worked! I wanted to add to this thread in case anyone else came along hitting the same brick wall, hope it helps.

      @AlphaBetaPie
Maybe you can find a guide for themes in Projects and Themes.

skyscraper can have profiles added and changed, that resize and can add borders to images, there isn't anything for videos though.
