@Unknown I made the same mistake when I first started looking into building my first Retropie then remembered that the NeoGeo home console (AES) was essentially the same hardware as the arcade unit (MVS) but could only have one cartridge as opposed to the up to six cartridges of the cabinet.

If there is no /opt/retropie/emulators/jzintv folder after installation, then it means the installation didn't complete correctly. Note that the install doesn't add a hackfile, so if your configuration included one, you'll have to add it manually.

@Smythius said in Intellivision was working and doesn't now.:

I think quicksilver may have found your issue as your BIOS files should be in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ and your setup appears to want them in your roms folder. You could try copying them there if they are not already and see if it works. My Intellivision retroarch.cfg just points to the global one in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg I dont have any custom values in it other than the input remapping (maybe you have something else?) in the global file you should have system_directory = "~/RetroPie/BIOS"

I know this is an old topic but, for anyone else trying to get this to work.

I have had moderate success with jzintv.

If you have downloaded from http://intellivisionrevolution.com/ultimatepong
Add “.rom” to the end of the file.

Can’t currently get the controller to work but keyboard works fine!

      Lowercase, in the BIOS folder.
[EDIT: actually, it was Exec.bin.... for some damn reason the first letter was capitalized and even as I replaced it with other versions all in lowercase, it kept the first letter capitalized. I deleted and replaced it with an all lowercase exec.bin and it works now! Thanks so much!]

@edmaul69 That could well be awesome:) I won't say no yet, but I may well have a go myself (eep) I didn't think I was using a hackfile, but i need to compare my two systems to see if one had been loaded via the Donkey Kong rom I put on there.
Not going to burn any bridges, your offer is genuinely nice:) I'll see what I can tonight. Thank you!

@edmaul69 @gpmcty I tried editing the config file as the website stated, but still can't get it to work. When you say hack file, do you mean the one the listed (the config file edited)?
I can't get vision-dapter to work at all. It is identified, but I get the message 'Not Configured'.
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

for me, what I did was to display the overlay instead of box art.

Can't see it during the game, but you at least get to see it before you start the game.

You nailed the concern on this perfectly by describing the fact the Colecovision, Intellivision and Atari 5200 (CX52) have very similar controllers. What I really wish is that the three communities would get together and do a Kickstarter or GoFundMe to develop an improved, common controller that can be used with all three systems. I don't know what other consoles used a numeric keypad as part of the controller. It's fairly unique compared to all modern controllers made in the last 35 years. I think when NES came out in 1985, those type controllers started to disappear from production. By thinking in terms of a common controller for all three systems, it seems a lot more feasible to do than just going it alone for just one system.

My idea would be to make the controller flexible to serve all three consoles. I'm an Intellivision fan, so the numeric touchscreen could be flipped upside down (software config) for Colecovision and Atari 5200 fans whose controllers had the numeric keypad on the bottom (the three buttons above the CX52 joystick would have to be combined onto the 15-button touchscreen - a compromise). The four side buttons could be near the middle of the controller (another compromise). Both ends of the controller would have ports for connection to the homebrew console or PC with different cable adapters. Configuration software would be created to program the controller to immediately act as a duplicate of one of the three console's controllers. The directional disc itself could be configurable with attachments to closely represent each console.

@quicksilver Got it figured, it’s now working with jzintv! I’d added the .rom .ROM to the intellivision es_config file as per @dudleydes post and it’s just like the old days are back again! Gonna have a blast tomorrow with my lad- two player works a treat as well:)) Got to say thanks for all advice from you folks, I love this place!)

That's a great theme. I'd like to have it. I created my title screen because I never found any on the internet.

I remember the old PlayCable, My first girlfriend had it back in 1981... maybe why she was my first girlfriend... lol.

Also... my Retropie is built into an old Sears Intellivision. I hated to gut the thing, but it was for a great cause. I'm really happy with the results.

It's kinda fun being able to play 27 different game systems on one old modded one.
