      @cjdawson Please post your Kodi log (http://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file) and also describe everything that you have connected to the Raspberry Pi.

      @Danorak1981 First off don't use NOOBS. If you are going to install KODI on a separate card you should use a lightweight JEOS (Just enough operating system) for it. The most popular / supported are OSMC and Librelec.

      Maybe go with Librelec as OSMC has a lot of customisations peculiar to itself.

      I've not used a wireless controller with KODI, so can't advise but I would always advise people to have a USB keyboard for the PI as it always comes in handy.

      The best smartphone app for controlling KODI is the official KORE app, another is YATSE but it is a bit bloated these days. Also bear in mind I stopped using a phone app for KODI as it eats battery life like crazy as it works over the wireless network and is constantly broadcasting a WiFi signal. You should get a mini keyboard like the Rii i8+, I have one for each of my KODI Pis.

      @AlexMurphy
      I liked the setup, and didn't care about the space. I had a 16 gb SD card, but played (all most) everything from usb.
      On the Kodi side, it connects to my Nas so I don't need a large expensive SD card.

      Ok just found a solution now it works.

      Used this way:

      sudo apt-get update

      sudo apt-get upgrade

      sudo apt-get install kodi

      After that period no problems at all.

      THX

      @kmickelow I am no part of Kodi Foundation or Team, I just make Raspbian compatible Kodi packages for a while now, and make them available for anybody that wants to use it in Raspbian based systems like RetroPie.

      Kodi 17.3 is now available for update.

      @mfergu32 Try sudo apt-get -f install
      You just need to give it root permissions which is what adding sudo does.
      I don't think this will help though as I think policykit was taken off the rasbian repository.

      @chuskie yep it may be an OS incompatibility. Usually on Windows and retropie the directory format may differ and the build fails to load the images. Tried to check Kodi error log? If not try looking in these directories for the LOG file:

      Android: {storage}/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/temp/kodi.log iOS: /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/Kodi/kodi.log Mac: /Users/{my_user_name}/Library/Application Support/Kodi/kodi.log Windows: C:\Users{user_name}\AppData\Roaming\Kodi\kodi.log Linux: ~/.kodi/kodi.log OpenELEC: /storage/.kodi/kodi.log OSMC: /home/osmc/.kodi/temp/kodi.log XBian: /home/xbian/.kodi/temp/kodi.log Raspberry Pi: /home/pi/.kodi/kodi.log

      Also take a look at this tutorial on [deleted].

      @josete2k If Kodi crashes, with default settings, and doing simple things like that, your problem is likely a hardware one. Make sure you have a good SD card and a good power supply, preferebly a one piece one, whitout a separate usb cable.
      Making a python script to kill/restart Kodi isn't going to do any better.

      @bobbylou4 Start a new topic and provide information (A full log with the error from RetroPie-Setup/logs)

      Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

      It's likely a dependency issue with your package database or network issue but cannot help without the log.

      @HomeGrownHeroz Kodi can't act as a Plex Media Server, they are two different things, with some similar features.
      Kodi can also act as a media server, although in a different way, all devices needs to have a full Kodi installation. Plex is easier to setup, as a media server and the respective clients.
      What you can do in Kodi is using it as a Plex Client, using the addon below, which will be connected to a Plex Media Server, that is what you installed in Raspbian.
