      @bland328

      Actually, in both cases you'd need an external tool. I use xboxdrv, as outlined in the guide I linked to above. Having analog movement available on the stick comes in handy for everything from 'Marble Madness' to 'Spy Hunter'. It's especially nice in 'Centipede', where you're normally all over the place much too quickly with digital controls.

      @fingal perfect! That’s what I was hoping it would do, but hard to explain exactly. So:witnessed you have to go back to games that you already tried mapp8ng 8n this manner and update those too, because they might have their individual saved key maps.

      Glad we solved it.

      @periodiclogic said in lr-mame2003, Rewind Functionality, and Segmentation Faults?:

      Emulation Station would briefly load the ROM, and then kick me right back out. The error log, whether detailed or not, only showed of relevance a Segmentation Fault in runcommand.sh.

      That does seem like an emulator bug. Could you please post this report & the log as a new issue in the mame2003 github repository?

      @jlr Glad you found the issue, but you are right, it is strange that it did not work just remapped.

      One thing I will mention is that lr-mame2003 actually sees two simultaneous inputs. The first input is the one that was probably remapped in ES and RetroArch configurations so it was fine for FBA and others. However, this version of mame ALSO SEES a RAW keyboard input alongside the retroarch virtual gamepad remap. It is strange, I know, but I wonder if MAME was seeing your raw left/right with the remapped one and together, they were cancelling each other out.

      In any case, better to have it wired properly anyway.

      @bollwerk analog sharing is how the lr-mame2003 core work works out of the box. I have a trackball working just fine in millipede and others. It shares control with spinners. The only core options I added was mame2003-dialsharexy = "enabled" which doesn’t apply to trackball games I used to use AdvMAME for analog games but now only vector and titles that don’t launch in 2003. I never had to set an option for mouse. Maybe I left it default? I certainly didn’t add an option for it.

      Ok, I give up. The request was simple and would give developers early feedback on real world performance with each release, which seems to be of some value, based on the feedback above on rev 4.3. It would also allow newbies to quickly check their setup against a standard benchmark and take away a lot of subjectivity, saving them and the support team countless hours of chasing problems that do not exist.

      Good luck,
      MML

      @gtbfilms Bummer. The loss of shader was definitely a result of swapping out old for new configs. You can add a shader configuration line like I did above in the all/retroarch.cfg or like I did in the arcade config folder.

      As for sound, I would be surprised if Retroarch configs are to blame for that, especially since it still worked in lr-mame2003.

      @dankcushions Thank you for the reply and suggestions. I did not see any override configs in the path the you suggested, and the restored configs did not resolve it either.

      Alas, I think a reformat and build from scratch are in my future...

      @darksavior said in Pi3B, MAME, lr-MameForAll or lr-Mame03 - Segmentation Faults:

      Games will have bugs or not run correctly. You might not have noticed it, but I did. It depends on the game.

      I agree with that between 0.36 and 0.78 it nearly doubled and between lr-mame2000 and lr-mame2003 I would think a shoe in for the latter and is considered the gold standard in certain aspects except maybe vector where AdvMAME outshines them all. I do agree to that FBA seems to run Neo-Geo, Capcom, Konami games better. They just seem to run smoother for certain.

      I do also use multiple emulators too depending on the game. Mainly lr-mame2003 roughly 300 or so games with aforementioned options of shader and analog d-pad support. AdvMAME for vector, FBA for Neo-Geo, etc.

      The original author of mame4all-pi (squid) had a majority of the games running at 100% without frame skip. It's been a hobby of mine since the late 90's. I do faithfully download the split updates every few months merge it and join the torrent. That includes the CHD's & extras, etc. I think it's close to 400GB now. It's where I spend most of my time when it comes to emulation.

      That's what I was pointing out is the binaries (ROMs) are mostly 100% identical between the two version which are only 3 years apart. I don't believe the driver/board support emulation improved that much between those versions but they went crazy with additions.

      You would have to be more specific on what exact games you find buggy in 0.37b5 that work differently in 0.78? My main point is that mame4all-pi (not lr-mame2000) is still very relevant if not a choice not just for the familiarity and support for being so widely ported but also the input configuration is still superior out of the box it works. Meaning there's certain configuration scenarios lr-mame2003 can't do...yet or at least not easily as I believe you will loose hotkey functionality if you "nul" all the Retroarch inputs to rely on lr-mame2003 inputs alone to correct the issue. :)

      Like Mario Bros, this is a great game to play competitively, actively trying to destroy the other player while also not falling victim to the CPU opponents. Try it this way sometime (and Mario Bros.)

      I have pretty much resorted to AdvanceMame for anything that the lr-MAME cores (mostly 2003) can't handle with a decent framerate and no glitches on the Pi3, and it's been surprisingly reliable.

      I can even run the Sega System 24 games on it without any slowdown or problems, namely Bonanza Bros, CrackDown and Gain Ground.

      Strongly recommend.
