Good day. After troubleshooting everything including the motherboard and usb cables I found out from the seller that the Dragonwise controllers will not work with the PI 4. FInd this odd, but that is what they said Only PI 3. Does anyone know of controllers you could recommend that are known to work with the PI 4? Tried every search combination but not finding any specifically stating they will work. Would appreciate any help.

@retropieuser555 Multiplayer is fine for any other emulator. Goldeneye is actually the only game in which I use lr-parallel. I understand it, it is pretty outdated, but seems to work best for this specific game.

When I attempt to play multiplayer for Goldeneye, player 2 looks fine, but the window for player 1 blinks super fast. It is definitely unplayable in this mode.

      @metal-ghost

Hey I got it to work. When pairing via Bluetooth I don’t wake up the VCS Classic controller until about 30 seconds or so after the searching for Bluetooth with the pi. That way the VCS controller does not turn off before it finishes.

Once I set it up in emulation station I launch a game and the controls get mapped all wrong for some reason so I go into RetroArch under settings->input->port 1 (or something like that I’m not at my pi right now) I’ll reconfigure the controls and save controller profile.

Now it works except the paddle. Unfortunately it’s using a different scheme (I believe it starts at 0 and wraps all the way to 1 when it resets to zero, I’ve seen people explain it better on Reddit). It works great on stella on my windows. But I haven’t figured it out on Retropie. I’ll keep looking and trying things to get the paddle to work.

@jimmyfromthebay If you're into computers as long as I (starting with a Commodore 64 in the mid eighties), cables are among the first ususal suspects for any kind of strange effects. 👾👻💩

Glad that it worked for you. Have fun with RetroPie!

For anyone running into this and having issues for... Not paying attention to details for whatever reason. (ADD in my case)

1: ES_SYSTEMS.CFG was not in the opt folder for me, but it is recommended to have it there anyway for alterations, so make a copy of it there.

      sudo cp /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

2: the <pi> in the code above is the user name/folder. in my case, the folder is called "retropie" - maybe because it's a custom installation. I needed to change things as follows:

      <system> <name>pico8</name> <fullname>PICO-8</fullname> <path>/home/retropie/pico-8</path> <extension>.sh .p8 .png .SH .P8 .PNG</extension> <command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 "/home/retropie/pico-8/pico8_dyn -run %ROM%"</command> <platform>pico8</platform> <theme>pico8</theme> </system>

I also was not able to install wiringpi, but the gamepad worked anyway. I wasn't able to exit it via gamepad yet, but I've been very away from retropie, so I might just be missing something. (also I was using a gamepad/mini keyboard combo, so it wasn't an issue yet.)

@lupin it may well be a generic thing that would affect the official retropie image also but they are not supported here because we don't know what has changed under the hood, and also do not want to encourage the distribution of illegal material under the retropie name, etc. the image maker calling it 'official' is particularly egregious...

I confirm the behavior for Mario Kart Double Dash.

In your other thread you seem to have found a solution for Mario Kart Double Dash. What exactly is the fix? Using that fork of dolphin or the Gecko codes you provided?

      Best,

The solution to get rid of the blue fog screen is to install the Ishiiruka version of dolphin....

Actually you CAN emulate the PS2 on the Pi 4, but the speed is abysmal and the legwork required is insane. The tl;dr version of the story is you need to install Windows 10 using Windows on Raspberry and run PCSX2. SOME games run at playable speeds, but not many. Disgaea 1 and 2, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 10, and Final Fantasy 12 are playable. There are likely more, but those are the ones I've tested.

@mitu Thank you, That fixed it.

I changed it because I found emulation station running first was affecting the performance of the pi when doing normal desktop processes and it would quickly get annoying to have to exit emulation station and type startx to get to the desktop(for me let alone my son).

will go back to searching and see if i can figure something else out.
