There are tons of dev type boards but none have the community and software support of the Raspberry Pi. Lakka does a pretty good job of supporting different kinds of hardware

I still cant play quake2 :( witch is a great game. I also saw quake 3 in ports and i had installed it but i could not see it anywhere so i uninstalled it. I dont know if it was only the engine and i was suppose to get the game and install it after that but in any case, i still would not have been able to play it if i cant get bot analog stick to work.

@Efriim Ive done some overclocking tests with PPSSPP and its core_freq and sdram_freq that make the biggest difference with performance. I ran "top" while running a couple psp games and I never saw the CPU go much above 50% so I dont think overclocking ARM will help.

I'm having the same issues with ppsspp and 8bitdo controller.

@Ted-Ryot or you could just set "color buffer to rdram" to "async" and the intro will work properly (on a pi 4). If you use RetroPie use mupen64plus-gliden64 and the game will run fullspeed too.

When I searched PSP as a gamepad RetroPie I allways saw only pages about the PSP emulators, there is also a Wi-Fi gamepad homebrew app but I only saw it working for Windoes, it is called wificontroller, it is a Linux one but you need a script on Linux, could you check if you can add it to a RetroPie setup option along with the option to start ot at boot? You only need to search psp wireless gamepad linux at google

A PC with a Core i CPU (and a Nvidia videocard) should be the best solution. The most arm boards are to slow for GameCube emulation.

Ok - I've got SOTN basically playable.

Using the retroarch overlay config GUI (select+X in game) I set:
frameskip to 1
custom viewport width 1440 (x3)
custom viewport height 816 (x3)
integer scale on

other settings:
hw biliner filtering - turning this to off makes the game look significantly better on my big flatscreen from apx 3 meters away, but doesn't seem to impact performance (disclaimer that I prefer a pixelated look to a blurred look for my scalers)

other observations:
loading savestates seems unstable until loading a regular game save. not sure if its related to my settings changes or not.

@Hockmiester why dont you just open the file /opt/retropie/configs/megadrive/retroarch.cfg and manually add them? But you need to undo whatever configs you created.

Yeah, ppsspp is a good bit faster and more accurate than lr-ppsspp. Some games you can run well at 1080p, some will run certain sections well, some will just choke. Depends on the game.

Pi2 I have played:
Hotshots Tennis at 1080p full speed except when the camera zooms in on the tennis court.
Gurumin at 1080p, parts of town are very slow. Inside the house is full speed, as are most gameplay levels.

I can test more later. Will have to figure out how to use the USB rom location. Games are big. :D

Definitely use ppsspp instead of lr-ppsspp. But keep a keyboard handy. You can't exit to the menu with the joystick.

Hi, I was looking for the "Buffer rendering" option for test it with some "black screen" games, where can I find that option? (was looking but didnt found it!) :S
