Reckon one of these is worth £3.50, and will it just be on all the time? Or is it just pointless junk?

Hi guys again just wanted to ask if this might be considered a little overkill for a Linux RetroPie machine.
getting a Q6600 with the motherboard and heat sink for 50$
      HD 5850 1GB for 30$
Case with a 500W (cheapish PSU) for 40$
and i already have a back up 1TB HDD
Also note that this is all Canadian funds as well and just wanted to know with a complete setup like that if it would be overkill.

@buddyscott Now if only we could have match making servers, then I bet the Retropie community would probably explode.

      @SpudsMcToole Hm.

Any competing bluetooth devices? You seem to mention another dongle of sorts.

Have you tried the instructions here

      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/PS3-Controller

      for "older versions of RetroPie"?

Also, in the guide, it clearly states "Note: Do not enable other bluetooth options as these will conflict with the PS3 specific bluetooth setup (sixad)", so I wonder if you have any competing bluetooth service turning on, regardless of dongles and stuff.

I'd try going through that guide, extensively, and seeing if anything works - and yes, disconnecting any other Bluetooth device (and potentially uninstalling any other bluetooth service you might have started or enabled unknowingly).

@SpudsMcToole there are warnings all over to back up your builds! Also, where are you storing all of these? There are certain folders that get overridden during updates. There are other folders like .emulationststion that do not. You should follow tutorials and save you custom work in folders that do not get overridden.

I've been playing around on my Pi3 to figure out what works and such, and have quickly discovered my 32 GB MicroSD card isn't nearly large enough.

I'm probably going to get 128 GB MicroSD cards for my Pi 3's (though if I see a good enough deal on a 256 GB card...), but I'm trying to figure out how much space I'll need for my Pi 0, and I have one question (because I don't have a second microSD to use for the Zero to test things out atm).

I know that the Pi 0 will probably be more limited with the SNES games, because the SNES apparently needs a 3GHz processor to perfectly emulate, but are there any similar limitations for the GBA?

I know in actual technical capabilities the GBA is better than the SNES, but it is also much newer, so not sure if the same kind of hardware emulation issues would hinder GBA emulation.

The USB port on the Wii U pro controller is just a charging port and doesn't do data. If you want to connect to the Pi via bluetooth you'll have to go into the bluetooth settings of the RetroPie. While you can get this to work, I highly suggest you get a PC wireless controller adapter. I tried hooking my Wii U controller to the Pi's bluetooth and it worked at first. But very soon I started experiencing ghosting to the point I couldn't even play the games. Using the adapter, I synced it very easily to my controller and Emulation Station recognized the controller very easily.

@SutterKane Hotline Miami is boss. The gerne Outrun is personally my favorite in Synthwave, which is why I've created lotsa songs similar to the Hotline Miami Soundtrack.

This is great info even for those of us who are not using standard HD video resolutions. Anyone building an arcade cabinet using dirt cheap 17 or 19-inch LCDs typically find them running 1280x1024 resolution, and although 1024p is not 1080p, it's certainly better than 720, and I can definitely attest to how nice the CRT-PI shader looks at 1024.

It's also handy to know that the shader looks best when it has 4x game resolution to render the scanline and shadow mask effects. This has come up in a few other threads over the past few months--people building hand-held devices that have tiny screens sometimes ask about using the CRT-PI shader. I had always thought you would need extra pixels to make the CRT effect look nice. I guess my advice was sound. Good info all around.
