@mitu said in scummvm: Extrapath por specific games in emulationstation:

It's because the launcher specifically sets extrapath when launching the .svm entry. But ScummVM shoud search in the game folder for the files needed - have you tried copying the extra folder files in the game folder ?

OMG, I dind't read it properly. Copied the files from that specific extra folder to the main game folder and... It works.

      So simple.

      THANK YOU A LOT.

      TOPIC SOLVED.

      @BuZz

Sorry, just wanted to post if someone maybe knew that something has been changed recently. Also, i found a workaround so was more of a heads up.

RetroPie Version Used: 4.5.1 with setup 4.5.13
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: keyboard

Error messages received: just jumped back to menu when launching
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log: forgot about that before building from source

Sorry for the extreme late reply! In reference to my original issues, I got the controller issue fixed (Yay!) but my other problem remains in that I cant get Beavis and Butthead to load from the start. From my last post, I discovered that the game does in fact run properly IF I load a save file from it, however, I get booted back to the main EmulationStation screen if I try to start a game from the beginning. Here are the contents of my runcommand file:

      Parameters:
      Executing: bash /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/scummvm/+Start\ ScummVM.sh "bbvs-win"
Using joystick: SWITCH CO.,LTD. USB Gamepad
Virtual keyboard pack 'vkeybd_default' loaded successfully
WARNING: No hardware input were defined, using defaults!
User picked target 'bbvs-win' (gameid 'bbvs')...
Looking for a plugin supporting this gameid... MTV's Beavis and Butt-head in Virtual Stupidity
Starting 'Beavis and Butt-head in Virtual Stupidity'
Using joystick: SWITCH CO.,LTD. USB Gamepad
      /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/scummvm/+Start ScummVM.sh: line 4: 1506 Aborted /opt/retropie/emulators/scummvm/bin/scummvm --fullscreen --joystick=0 --extrapath="/opt/retropie/emulators/scummvm/extra" $game

When I try and start a new game and get booted back to the main screen, this line of text briefly shows up...

*** Error in `/opt/retropie/emulators/scummvm/bin/scummvm': double free or corruption (out): 0x7ee9b2d0 ***

Any ideas, thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!

      I sorted my issues.

I had forgotten to put the quirks mode entry in the startup - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Xin-Mo-Controller/ - and also it looks like I had wired up the controller incorrectly the last time I made changes but things had been working in most lb emulators as pointed out above! This post - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2127/xin-mo-instructions/11 - gave me the clues as the X Axis should be Axis 0 in jstest and Axis 1 is Y Axis.

Abandonware doesn't mean free or free of copyright claims / giving you the right to sell it.

The site in question even makes the legality of it quite clear, when defining abandonware (SITE /definition/).

Abandonware France a fait le choix de se spécialiser dans les vieux jeux PC et Mac et en français lorsque cela est possible.

Cette pratique est illégale et n'est que tolérée actuellement.

      Translation:

Abandonware France has chosen to specialize in old PC and Mac games and in French whenever possible.

This practice is illegal and is only tolerated now.

So, you'd be selling software for which you have no rights to, illegally IMHO.

As for using RetroPie - see https://retropie.org.uk/about/legal/.
For any software you wish to include (emulators), check if they have a non-commercial clause (even if they're open source), some of the emulators included in RetroPie have this clause in their license.

EDIT: I've removed, per the forum rules, the link to the site.

@BillyH the Monkey Island games by far are my favorite. Along with some of the older Sierra games. I grew up playing the King’s Quest series and have a soft spot for those old point and click adventure games.

@Freakadude yes, the scriptmodule compiles MT-32 support into the lr-scummvm core, but is not enabled by default because the RPI is not very powerful for it in some games.

If you want to try it, go to the BIOS directory ($HOME/RetroPie/BIOS) and in there you will find the configuration file scummvm.ini.

Once in there, set these options in the [scummvm] section (if not there, add them):

      mt32_device=mt32 music_driver=mt32

To return to the default (disabled), delete the options from the config file.

Edit: forgot to add an option to the list :)
