@seraphiscain said in (RetroPie X86) How to change global lr- emulator volume?:

Is there any way to get the setting in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg to actually apply to all lr- emulators?

They should apply to all lr- emulators. Unless you've used 'Save Configuration' for one of them, in which case they won't, since that would break the inclusion of said .cfg file - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#config-hierarchy.

Dolphin does require a 64-bit operating system. To fix that you need to reinstall using the x86-64 or amd64 version of the installer or image.

When any documentation here mentions x86 it is simply using it as a term to indicate PC/Laptop hardware as opposed to ARM based hardware.

Ok thanks, i had misunderstood then, and you're right, it works fine now on the x64 distribution.

Tested with symbolic links as discussed by Parabolaralus here, seemed easier, and for anyone running my specs they should have no issue running gamecube games. Runs flawlessly so far.

Maybe installing add-apt-repository should be included in the base installation, since it is used for several packages?

software-properties-common is installed by any *-desktop meta-package, what options did you choose during installation ?

OK so should anyone encounter the same:
Changing from opengl to sdl2 did resolve that last issue.
A Pentium G3258 at 3.2 Ghz has some speed issues, but it works fine with 4.6 and up.
Skylake or newer Processors should do with less frequency.

But it's not there for me. Is this because I am using x86 machine and not a Pie?

The standalone redream emulator is available just for the Pi 4 at the moment.

It works !!!!!! but only when i launch ES in a terminal :-(

This is exactly what I said in my first reply. This is how it's configured the RetroPie launcher - as outlined in the docs.

Last question : does ES and Retropie need sudoers ?
If not, i should modify authorization in /opt/retropie/configs : actually all files are for root:root and not for my user "pi"
As runcommand try to write in the .cfg file, it couln't !!!

The /opt/retropie/configs shouldn't be owned by root - there's something that you maybe changed, because the RetroPie-Setup scripts ensure the folder is owned and writable by the installation users.

The sudo rights for the install user is needed for installing additional packages and for adding the necessary configurations needed for RetroPie. This is one of the first steps outlined in the installation docs.

Thank you very much! I had the same problem (installed RetroPie on top of Xubuntu 18.04 LTS 32 bit on top of an old Asus EEE PC. Took me some time but finally RP installed fine.

However, ES gave me the white screen. Based on your advice I found out it was caused by the same issue, the GPU not supporting OpenGL 2.

After following up your advice, ES starts just fine. As such this EEE system has a new life: a retro gaming station! Awesome!!!!
