I think it would be a great idea. If it's not possible to implement it, could it be done using the theme system? 🤔

@wawa Assuming the core's source code is hosted on Github, all you'd need to is make a scriptmodule for it, test it to verify it works, and then submit a pull request to the RetroPie-Setup Github repo.

Thankfully, for libretro cores, there are tons of scriptmodules you can use as a reference to write your own; just take a peek in /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/. Assuming you know how to write a .sh file that complies with this style guide (and know how to use Github's pull requests), you should be good to go!

Yes that's right! :D So far, when I select a pdf manual, it will be downloaded to the pad/phone for reading while I play. This way I can chack for copy protections and/or clues while I play a game on the Retropie.

At first I was thinking that you could read the manual before you were going to play. but this is indeed better.

Perhaps an idea for you to tinker with.
In theory you could match the sum of a screenshot, with extra information. and output it back in speech or as an overlay in the game.

I'm sorry for causing any trouble by bumping my post, like what's that's term suppose to mean.

It's said to be short for "bring up my post" (see the Urban Dictionary). It's when the owner of a thread keeps posting just to get attention and/or keep the thread in the "new messages" list.

In general, bumping is frowned upon, especially if it's done repeatedly in a short timespan. One bump after a longer time (in a forum approx. after a week or more) is usually seen as acceptable, though.

This should be handled automatically - via the renameModulefunction in the scriptmodule. See for instance here.

@dudelebowski You shouldn't bump 4 years old topics - start a new topic instead. The information here is outdated - the driver in question is no longer maintained and Dualshock 4 controllers don't need a driver to work.

@sgtjimmyrustles It wouldn't really work on RetroPie as easily imho. Recalbox system is a fixed size. RetroPie is a full OS which needs to sit on the ext4 filesystem and can grow. We wouldn't know how much to split between the system and roms partitions - not everyone's use case is the same. Some people might want to add lots of addition stuff to the OS.

Even if this was an initial configurable setting on first boot, I don't really like the idea sorry.

Also, I think it's easy enough to transfer ROMs. You can copy directly if you install an ext4 filesystem on windows.

Kigen v1.31b is released. Kigen is a RetroArch-based multi-emulator that allows emulating the Sega Master System, GameGear, Genesis, SegaCD, 32, Sega Saturn and now Arcade using various libretro cores and supports advanced shaders such as color-duplicator2.

so that's basically a retroarch equivalent. no, that kind of thing wouldn't/couldn't get added to retropie, but if cores within are libretro, maybe the core that runs the game you want could be, but you'd need to investigate what core is running and whether it is viable on ARM + GLES 3.1.

I did these tests with just the default RetroPie 4.7.1, though I did sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade to get all the latest packages.

@jgeibel My pleasure. Some years ago, I used AM on my Linux PC and laptop before I got my Pi 3b and discovered RetroPie, which seduced me with its all-in-one-package simplicity.

But I still have my MAME 0.185 setup with AM, and I'll never forget this my "first love" among emulation frontends with its unparalleled customisability. 😍
