Afaik gamewizard is a script to download premade ROM packs automatically (along with other features). It's not something that we appreciate I'm afraid. In the same manner that Kodi doesn't appreciate certain streaming plugins. It damages retropie.

It's going to be rather annoying if you plan on "clarifying" your point every time this comes up (And it won't have the effect you want ).

I'm saying you need to be very clear that selling ROMs isn't inherently illegal when you talk about this. These companies know what they're doing is illegal and usually wrong as well but public perception on the legality of ROMs and emulators in general matters. Nintendo in particular has been spreading misinformation about this for decades because they want more control over the future of technology to belong to megacorporations like them and to change the law to make projects like RetroArch actually illegal. Just saying "selling ROMs is illegal" normalizes this impression which would make passing laws to that effect much much easier for them.

I think if RetroPie was to distribute a facility to download ROMs that are legally in the clear, this might help dispel the misconception that sharing ROM files is inherently illegal.

ProjectX is a source port from the PC version of Forsaken. Much like ZDoom was a source port of the original Doom source code.

@lordg2009 same results here. a menu opened up very momentarily but then things crashed so... yeah idk. maybe it needs x and doesnt like running on the framebuffer.

if the second way works, you could get away with not having to buy new control boards for all of your systems.

@Rydra IMHO putting it on github and providing a script to install it is the best way to provide it to RetroPie users.

If you are running under X I assume you are running on a PC ? It needs to be launched attached to a TTY.

I agree and I have made a new topic on the sort, but we aren't the first ones to talk about this.

@jdrassa The way I see it, from my limited knowledge point of view, is that it should be easier to align the icon with the corresponding text entry in the gamelist if it's a font (you can just render it inline) rather than a separate icon element that you need to explicitly render at a different location trying to guess which gamelist entry is selected at a time.

Then again, I don't know enough of the components in question to confirm that'd be the case. And, certainly, it's not that it can't be done, but just something to bear in mind.

i believe packaged with retroarch is a Wii scanlines overlay that can be activated. the Wii was 640x480 (or at least, that overlay is) so that should work well. i can't really demonstrate/remember how you load overlays but maybe that's enough to get you going :)

This might be a low-overhead solution for you. There are other threads that have examples of the lines you could include in a retroarch.cfg (either per ROM or per Emulator) to setup an overlay as opposed to the shader. If you can find the file dankcushions is remembering, load it on the Pi and reference it as an overlay, (and assuming you like the look of it) it might be a simple way to achieve the effect without the need to learn OpenGL.

I have done the index and the reordering. It works for the most part. However, notice how your volume command /usr/bin/amixer sset PCM,0 2dB- references PCM? That will fail on my USB because it is looking for HEADPHONES as a controller name. Sure, I can simply adjust my volume commands, but it is the embedded calls to PCM that would generate errors and for some emulators, I would get no audio. Perhaps I need to find another USB Sound card. The problem is that "amixer controller name" is not usually in the documentation!

@TMNTturtlguy I've replied on the ticket. Exit es if building from source. Swap shouldn't fail if being used heavily. Sounds like sd card problems, but could be os. I don't want to add more swap as it would mean large swap file being created when not needed in many cases (with the current calculated swap size code).

@TMNTturtlguy it will act as a black screensaver by default, even with the star set. The condition for the screensaver is just "if setting is different to fade, then do black" which is give as there are only two options there :)
