I cant get multidisk games to automount at all. Any idea what i do wrong? Tried all different namings, and both amiberry and uae4arm. Same with all disks in a zip file. It still asks for disk2. Tried multiple games.

I figured out the issues, but apparently it is JUST a launcher, when I exit via alt+f4 the dolphin gui shows up and asks for verification, then retro arch appears, so it's actually worse as far as going keyboard free. Oh well, was worth a shot :)

@spruce_m00se no. RetroPie as it stands on the pi is better in almost every conceivable way. I don't know why we'd bother with that when it can already run retroarch (not to mention it's been discontinued and none of the devs have one) best thing to do is take the guts out and replace them with a pi and use it as a case

    RetroArch yes.
    RetroPie no.

I use RetroArch a lot on my Android devices.

@RockyMtnBri Not without significant development. It's windows only, there currently isn't a macos or linux build. As a minimum someone would have to create an sdl2 gui for it.

    Reviving a dead topic lol.

I have a TK1 as well and I can't find any/much information on this other than this post. I recently install retopie with the generic-x11 parameter set, but I run into the following error:

    lvl0: Error initializing SDL!
    No available video device
    lvl0: Renderer failed to initialize!
    lvl0: Window failed to initialize!

During the build, I got the following errors upon completion:
    could not build mpupen64plus
    mupen64plus-core/projects/unix/libmupen64plus.so.2.0.0 not found

    could not build lr-imame4all
    /home/ubuntu/retropie-setup/tmp/build/lr-imam4all/mame2000_liberetro.so not found

could not build lr-snes9x2002. arm optimized snex9x 1.39 port for libretro
    /home/ubuntu/retropie-setup/tmp/build/lr-snes0x2002/snes0x202_libretro.so not found

could not install package fbi omxplayer

    please see
/home/ubuntu/retropie-setup/logs/rps_2017_04_16_192617.log.gz for more in depth information regarding the errors*

I guess the next thing to try is the above .sh modifications?
@Ponyo Could you please post your mostly working solution? If I could just see signs of life, I'd be much happier lol.

@dankcushions I figured it had to have been asked many times before. I personally merge all the sega systems together. It was just the inconsistency that made me ask. both are cart systems with cd add-ons but one is separate, one is merged.

You could argue that the supergrafx was a separate system not just an add-on like the 32x but with only 5 games who wants to split that out!

There is one problem with merging though. sselphs scraper doesn't find sega cd titles or pce cd titles if they are in the megadrive or pcengine folders so they have to be scraped manually, the built in scraper doesn't find them either (the system is part of the search criteria and it's the wrong system).

@madmodder123 I've actually been doing so using online converters. It's a bit of a pain but it works.

If you do put together a small command line utility, though, do share it - it would save me a lot of time in the process:)

Batch editing in a spreadsheet is much easier than in XML, I do agree!

@NastyButtler322 if you go through the Retropie-Setup GitHub repository and search the individual installation script modules you'll find the references of all source code repositories for each of those emulators.

    Best of luck.

@BuZz said in Switching default NES emulator - Opinions wanted.:

Some people have requested the default nes emulator is also switched to lr-nestopia from lr-fceumm (eg on rpi2/rpi3) so interested in hearing arguments for or against that too.

I defeated Snake Man without taking damage in Mega Man 3 playing with Nestopia and the achievement didn't work (damn't!).
And then I tryied to get some cheevos for Castlevania and it didn't work. Changed to FCEUmm and everything is fine (but couldn't defeat Snake Man without taking damage again...) :(

Not sure if it's enough to make you decide, but it's worth to mention.

@InunoTaishou you could always install the graphical desktop and then alter the script to call X to screen blank. There's more about it here and here

    @BuZz

Yep, simple markup is definitely needed for this, at least several different menu item types: regular (button), input, checkbox and maybe numeric slider. This should be enough to stay within the EmulationStation. Onscreen keyboard is needed anyway, even without this nice feature.

Of course fork is a good way to implement this, but I like RetroPie and I want it be better for everyone. So I shared this idea and wanted to hear you opinion first.

I'll leave the astrocade to you ;)

Done and done. GitHub isn't nearly as scary as I had imagined. I hope to work my way up to a script module submission when I have some time to learn a bit more. For now, I made some small revisions to my previous Astrocade artwork to make everything read a bit more cleanly.
