@domodan is there anyother way that you found to identify a "bad" board other than just trying it?
like I think the WiFi on one of mine is bad but only because it shows no networks available when I look but my other one with the same cards shows them just fine. That means I'm stuck hanging out next to the router to do any work to this one. lol

well I am trying to do the ControlBlock, but I thought I had seen somewhere that some people said that by altering things with the powerblock helped with the CB idk
I tried the test from the link you provided, "wget -O - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/petrockblog/PowerBlock/master/install.sh | sudo bash", both with ControlBlock and PowerBlock between petrockblog and master but nothing.
I also couldn't get either of my 2 keyboards(1 RF & 1 USB) that I use to connected to the Pi to type the " | ".
not sure why. I shows it on the keyboard but when shft-| i get the ~ and when I press that key I get the weird symbol that looks like a upside down and mirrored return symbol.
Now that I have started with a fresh install of EVERYTHING using a stock retropie image I still get the same results after installing and updating everything including the CB things

Is there somewhere that I can find someone that already has an image set up and working that I can get a copy of??!! I'm trying to use the CB inside a SNEScase using the OEM led, power switch, and reset button. I've also got new wires connected from the back of the OEM controller inputs to the CB.
I will say that I know the wires that I ran from the control inputs to the CB are good because the remote seem to be working just fine.
Wish I could just copy my image and be done with it but I didn't use a CB on mine because i'm using the 8bito BT remotes. (he isn't that tech savvy, sad i know)

please help!! lol ive only for a few hours until i'm the crappy brother that couldn't finish a birthday gift on time. lol

Maybe it is also an issue with the power supply: If you are using additional USB devices your power supply or micro USB cable might be components to exchange. We had this often with other installations in the past.

Flash RetroPie to Micro SD Card. Boot up RetroPie & update via retropie-setup.sh (in RetroPie menu). Reboot Pi. Run ControlBlock Quick Installation Script. Shutdown Pi and disconnect power. Connect ControlBlock to GPIO Pins on Pi. Connect Micro USB to ControlBlock and Power on.

If you are using a power switch make sure to connect it to the ControlBlock.

If you are not using a power switch make sure to connect it to the Raspberry Pi. Otherwise you cannot switch on the Raspberry.

In any case you can attach the ControlBlock to the RPi before installing the ControlBlock driver.

Ok, that makes sense now.

If I've got a controlblock, and no power switch, I should disable power switch functionality and power via the pi.

If I do have a power switch, I should connect it and power via the controlblock.

@ortsac The driver polls the terminal pins on the player 2 side of the board and that's really all: If the SNES controllers are not connected to those specific pins, no data can be read out.

I will prepare a schematic for that part of the ControlBlock soon. Basically, the driver communicates with the two GPIO expander components on the ControlBlock via SPI. Nothing more fancy happens there.

The ControlBlock is stackable and supports to four players! This feature was introduced with a recent update.

I hope that points you into some direction.

Yes, if the LED keeps on flashing the driver is not running properly.
