@mitu oh ho, I know it's not supported. I tried it as my main configuration for a while and eventually it just would not start any games at all. I'm hoping that because it's on a secondary sd card it'll fix the issues i previously had.

If i had a choice, I would totally prefer to have it on top of raspbian but, whatever.

@mitu Thanks, I'll try that. As for the script. It needs to be run to start the lightgun service to get the lightgun working. Only needs to be run once though. I think this is just a work around at the moment. Hopefully, once the sinden lightgun gets established, it will be integrated better with retropie.

RetroArch doesn't have the concept of a system, this is a front-end configuration convention (EmulationStation/runcommand). So you'll either have to modify each system's config or use a global save folder and hope you don't run into a situation with identical ROM/game names for multiple consoles/platforms.

Probably yes, but you could ask the author of the RetroPie CRT Ed. for confirmation to know which systems it supports.

Are you sure your USB drive is mounted as /mnt/Retro Drive ? Is the user that's running EmulationStation (RetroPie installation user) able to access the driver and its contents ?

That's exactly what I did for Arcade titles (with a copy of PhotoShop and a PC), but it's a big time investment. I did about ten/fifteen "major" games and then figured I'd get to the rest eventually.

I'm able to "re-use" some work for games that have the same controls. (e.g. Pac-Man and Ms.Pac-Man both use the "no buttons required" image) I also tried to make the button naming generic so that I can re-use images. If the buttons for "shoot" and "jump" are in the same place then I re-use the image. So far I've done early arcade titles which simpler control schemes.

Nah, that weird x00x00x00x00 never shows up no matter the non-Raspberry device I search for networks on. The RP4 also showed there being like 2+ different x00x00x00x00x00 networks at the same time a couple times: https://i.imgur.com/YukMVcW.jpg

ALL other devices, unlike the RP4, also ALWAYS see my 5ghz network, from my phone, to tablet, to Kindle, to my friggin Nest thermostat and Amazon FireStick, etc.

The RP4 doesn't see that 5ghz network a lot, and commonly gives me errors when it tries to connect when it actually sees it. All other devices can connect to that 5ghz, which the RP4 can't a lot of the time even when it finds it). And this morning the RP4 didn't see a SINGLE wifi network of any type and they're tons around me being in suburbia. I have no clue what's going on lol.

The games you play should support a controller interface, most of them probably work with a keyboard and mouse and not exclusively with a controller.
There are generic gamepad-to-keyboard/mouse mappers, for Linux I know about antimicro, but the best solution is for the game to natively support a gamepad.

@mitu That's the funny thing. mpg123 IS part of BGM so uninstalling BGM uninstalls both (hence the loss of music completely) but uninstalling mgp123 by itself removed its config I suppose. I manually plugged the info back in and left BGM out this time around and finally got it working. Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for all your help.

I ended up settling on Mode 51 (the largest 4:3) resolution the monitor will accept, and choosing a 4:3 Theme. This makes is look "close enough" for the ES look/feel. Because this will be all MAME games, I have to set the DMT for each one, so luckily any changes to ES doesn't affect the RetroArch settings.

As for the Screensaver and Splash screen (currently a static image), is I will over-squish them in an image editing program so that when they are displayed on the 4:3 setting, they will look like the correct aspect ratio. At least that is the plan.
