@Wisker no worries, I'd go through the link I posted and gather some information about your setup so people can help and do some research on how the system works (where roms go etc). Basically when you launch a game there should be a box that pops up where you can enter a menu and select what type of emulator you want to use for the rom, this is where you can use mame 2003, 2010, advmame, fbalpha etc for specific roms or all roms in that group (Arcade as example).

@mitu Indeed - nothing seemed to happen. However I did already have a bunch of funky characters in the command line prompt, so perhaps those prevented the "reset" command from working.

This is the second time it's happened to me in the last two days, so I will try to type in "reset" on a clean command line prompt the next time it occurs (although it didn't seem to work for the previous poster and his issue is a carbon copy of mine).

Also a couple of other things - I just took a look at ETA prime’s video on an arcade1up conversion; I don’t see him using a third party image, he is just using the official image it seems with the “showcase” theme which you can download from the Retropie official version. There are a lot of cool themes people have created for the official version. The other thing is that just because ETA prime does something doesn’t mean people here necessarily support it. The guy seems like a good guy and I have certainly watched his videos for help but ultimately he is a profit-making enterprise for YouTube views, ads, affiliate links, etc, and (I think at least) he is not an official part of the RetroPie Project in any way. Finally keep in mind as you go forward on working on your project that videos of any kind are necessarily snapshots in time - they can be helpful but they can also become quickly outdated as soon as retropie is updated.

@Dcgrandon said in No input on certain PSX games:

I've dug all I can in the archives but this one has me stumped.

It's actually part of the PS1 emulator page - look here. You may have set the controller to analog for one game and this setting is automatically saved, applying to all games (as it's about the emulator/core options).

Man I can't thank you enough, it's finally working! If you PM me your details, you have a few beers from me :)

For anyone interested, after registering at screenscraper.fr and going through all SS flags arguments, I think I finally got it right:

    /opt/retropie/supplementary/scraper/scraper -scrape_all=true -download_images=true -download_marquees=true -download_videos=true -console_src="ss,gdb,ovgdb" -mame_src="adb,mamedb,gdb" -use_nointro_name=true -ss_user="user_name" -ss_password="password"

    No more errors:

Turns out it was underlying OS issue. For whatever reason, the update broke the gamecon driver for SNES controller input. After uninstalling the db9 and gamecon drivers, rebooting, reinstalling then rebooting, my pad now works as one would expect!

What cued me into it was while reviewing logs after an update failure I found a gamecon update failed message. Researched it and found this info at the link below.

    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3875/solved-gamecon-installation-fails/10

@Efriim, really appreciate all your help and insight onto this issue. You helped direct me to look more into the software side and that's where it was.

@mitu I got it working after thinkig about it i thought the easiest solution would be to delete the software and put a new copy of retropie on it.

Just managed to figure out!! I SSH'ed into the box running retropi and ran emulationstation from that console . When i did that, emulationstation appeared on TV (great). When i ran game, i saw a menu that says to press a button to configure, and there I've seen to run with verbose logging. When game exited, i opened up /dev/shm/runcommand.log file and saw that umk3-u2.bin file was missing. So I've kept on looking for 0.78 romset mk3 files until i found that there is umk3-u2.bin file in one of them ! When i found it, I've copied that one to arcade dir and ran it without issues!!!

I love mk3 ! Now all i have to do is find my notebook with special moves written on it for every character which i collected during old days ! Ahhhh, that takes me back!

Thank you, all of you for assisting ! Would not have done it without you!

The disk I plan on leaving attached. I'll look into options for mount; is option "nofail" supposed to mean that it will give up trying to mount if it is non-available?

    systemd-analyze blame
    the top four are nmbd.service 10.8s and hciuart.service 6.4s
    then raspi-config.service 1.3s and smbd.service 1s

one is the net bios name server i was pretty sure I dont use that so i disabled it with
    sudo systemctl stop nmbd
    sudo systemctl disable nmbd

I do use bluetooth, It seems like it is unusually slow. Reading dmesg:
uart-pl011 3f201000.serial: no DMA platform data
    brcmfmac: power management disabled
and brcmfmac: brcmf_c_preinit_dcmds; look like firmware warnings

raspi-config is probably nominal, though I don't know what it is calling or doing at startup.

    I use samba smbd.service.

@mitu Sorry i thought that Thread was still active cause there were posts 5 days ago and i stumbled upon it by search and not over the Forum. My bad. You already helped me by asking what Version i use. I updated everything over night and now everything works fine. Thanks :)
