Dank: I'm using the arcade folder. Can I delete cfg files in there instead?

Trix: I'm able to set the movement as something other than arrow keys and it works fine... so that tells me there is an issue with the arrows

@martinnoren I just had boot problems with my sd card. It is a 8gb, it would boot NOOBS and raspian but not retropie. I found a 32gb sd and now the retropie image boots just fine. This was on a rpi 1b it's an older model. I know you said your SD was a 16gb but I thought this information might help.

@BuZz said in Sound Settings, audio level drops a point ever time I return there.:

@Wizardling I assume it's just a rounding issue from converting the saved alsa value to a percentage - just ignore it :)

Yeah, but each visit drops the audio level another point. It's not just once. It is every visit, forever, after the initial change. If one installs RetroPie and never changes the default 75% audio level, this doesn't happen. But as soon as one changes the audio level, it drops every single visit, thereafter.

Or if you're saying ignore it regardless of all that, well, I call this a fairly serious sound settings bug. Nothing should be altering settings on it's own every time the user visits settings :-)

@JiggaWatt i dont think the f keys can be mapped to the controller in retroarch. You definitely want to map f1-f4 if you can for metal gear though. Maybe with joymap.

Yes I like that thanks. Now I just need to figure out how to turn my 128GB SDcard with the 32GB image back into a 128GB card seems to only see the 32GB. I did already try the extend storage option in the one menu.

@Dochartaigh via the configuration editor it can set them on a per core basis or in the global retroarch.cfg.

    @mahcneto
I think for the music to work with the custom WAD fdoom, you'd need to also have a copy of the music in ~/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/fdoom.
You should be able to make symbolic links to the MP3 (so you don't have to copy them to your custom WAD directory which will save space).

    Try something like this:
    ln -s ~/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/*.mp3 ~/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/fdoom/

Let me know if this works because I am theorizing :-)

I tried to scrape my library yesterday and got an error 429 - "Too Many Request Responses".

I assume there's something wrong with the servers so it's not working as it should. I tried now and got the same results. Will wait until tomorrow and give it another go.

Make sure you have correct usb order:

    alt text

and do the HEX edit the driver, it's a common issue with zero delay controller, the up and down detect as "3" isn't right:

@Leo said in PC (MS DOS) roms not showing:

@Dochartaigh Got what sorted? I downloaded the exact same games from the exact same site as before and now I have to load them onto retro pie instead of simply cut and pasting into the PC folder?

It IS copy and paste - and after a reboot you'll see all the folders you dropped into the roms/PC folder show-up in the DOSBox/MS-DOS menu item just like Nintendo or SNES or N64 ROMs show up in RetroPie. The only difference is you then have to go into these folders, and click on the DOS executable file (usually a .EXE or .BAT or sometimes a .COM) to launch the DOS game.

EXCEPT when the files you downloaded are installation files instead of the working game files. So just like if you had an old MS-DOS computer, and were using floppy disks, you would have to install the game off the floppies (or CD), to a folder on your hard drive. Then AFTER you do that, you can again reboot and go into the DOSBox/MS-DOS RetroPie menu item and launch the executable file to launch the game.

Another exception is games that use a CD rom along with the installed files on your hard drive. The most common example is probably Warcraft II. It needs files installed to your hard drive, AND a CD-ROM to be able to play the full game. This takes some coding ad you have to setup a little script file to mount the CD in DOSBox.

Also, you might be confusing this process with the RetroPie Ports. On those, I think you can simply drop the files into the directory and it'll just run. Most common examples are Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, and Wolfenstein 3d. These need to be installed from the optional packages in RetroPie setup BEFORE you drop those files into the correct folder. ScummVM is also another drag and drop platform on RetroPie that plays old DOS games which is very much drag and drop....so you have options.

Then again, people make portables inside an Altoids tin, so a Zero in a MegaDrive or Atari cartridge should work, it just depends on your goals for the build.
