Seems like you know just enough to be dangerous 😜
You can copy and modify your Button1 code, just use "shutdown -r now" instead.

Hi all! I just wanted to say that I got an answer to my issue! My particular problem was due to my using a VGA to HDMI converter to use with my old VGA monitor. What fixed my problem was to edit the config.txt file and uncomment the line "hdmi_force_unplug=1". Works perfectly now. Again, thank you all for your time.

@park757 try the official PSU as recommended. One without an in-line switch.

      no emu keept restarting

I don't understand what's that suppose to mean, but please start with a fresh image written to the SD card and see if it works.

Just for clarification as well, @Zigurana 's Kiosk mode also does exactly that (well, not changing the labels, but only keeping those options, yes).

      Solution:

Copied emulationstation from /usr/bin to /usr/local/bin and things worked as normal.

I advice you to read this through before posting https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
Also you might not get much help here since you aren't using an official RetroPie Image

@mitu said in Restart ES via bash script!:

@paffley You should start a new topic.

Thanks @mitu I solved my problem so no need to start a new topic. I also changed from rm/cp to the grep command to edit the existing es_settings.cfg

I did the above so I could change themes from within the retropie system whilst in Kiosk mode, also have done the same for screen ratio's and overlays :)

      Cheers!

@meleu That looks really promising ... But AS you know I am not a scraper. Indeed the caurosel view is fine. Maybe in not a far future all databases are setted to SQL and then it is easier to exchange ready scraped Databases. What do you think?

@TMNT in the thread are all working scripts listed inkl. how to and version numbering

@epd For the most part, yes. You need to add your ROMs, and set up your controllers, but other than that, should be good to go!

@boredgamelad note that the current retropie image/binary updates won't neccesarily include that fix, but yeah from source definitely will. i think if you still get the issue after a source update it might be worth logging an issue here: https://github.com/libretro/pcsx_rearmed/issues

i'll try and recreate it soon also!

      @appleJimmies
Try it with a different microSD card. It sounds like the data is getting corrupted on shutdown. This usually happens with cheap generic microSD cards.

You might also try disabling Save Metadata On Exit in EmulationStation.

Check that your power adapter is 5V 2.5A.

Also, I doubt that you're doing this but I thought I would include it, if you're using some overclocking settings like especially overclocking your microSD card reader can cause weirdness like this.

partially resolved. i had a setting enabled that was preventing new games from coming in via the scrape options.

      I see the problem.

The problem is you have enabled ParseGamelistOnly - which will mean it doesn't scan for roms and only shows items from scraped gamelists. Hence your roms are not showing up.

      https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/FAQ

Parse Gamelists Only: If on, it will only read the roms you have scraped, so if you add any new roms it will not look for them unless you turn this back off. it is off by default.
also - are you aware any es_systems.cfg in /home/pi/.emulationstation will override the retropie-setup generated /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg - you probably dont want that unless you are happy to maintain it manually.

      This content on

      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2359/emulators-not-displaying/17

      Resolved the roms not appear.

I'm still dealing with being unable to set hotkeys on the controller.

      Thank you for your help.
