Luckily I got another memory card with version 1.9.7 which worked perfectly 1.19.0 utterly sucks and has so many bugs and issues. I think I'll stick with the older version and never upgrade retroarc again. if it ain't broken don't fix it.

@WildDog Not my expertise there. You should make sure you are exiting the game properly to ensure that if the game is able to retain scores, it will. (Turning off the machine will not let scores save. You have to exit the game with the hotkey combo.)

@sleve_mcdichael That worked! If I hold down select, now any of the quick menu hotkeys open the menu. Hey, I can go with that! Cool, then that's problem solved!

    Hi there!

I'm having trouble installing the freeJ2ME core in my raspberry pi 3 with retropie.

    I followed this guide here:
    https://github.com/hex007/freej2me/blob/master/src/libretro/retropie.txt

I tried to install the Oracle's JDK by running this command:

    sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-jdk

but it said there was no package,I was only able to install the OpenJDK.

Then I followed the next steps, no errors this time.

Now I can select the J2ME platform on emulationstation and enter the game's list, but when I select the game, the screen goes black and sends me back to the game's list.

    Any help?

  • when starting the menu or games i fall through to the main menu

    here is my config.txt

For more options and information see http://rptl.io/configtxt Some settings may impact device functionality. See link above for details Uncomment some or all of these to enable the optional hardware interfaces

    #dtparam=i2c_arm=on

    #dtparam=spi=on

    Enable audio (loads snd_bcm2835)

@Lolonois Sorry I took so long to reply I have only just seen your reply to my previous message. If you download the source code and open it with CMake you will see an option to disable Batocera integrations. I don't now why someone has given me -1 reputation for my previous message as it works with caveats.

@sugarfree Ok that's great to know about the Vulkan driver. I do have it installed and working on lr-flycast-dev but was never able to get it running on the standalone version of Dolphin. It keeps throwing me an error.

So I'll give these scriptmodule changes a try right now.

    Thank you!

@sleve_mcdichael said in Stand-alone Genesis rom dir:

I don't know why you'd want to update an existing link actually, except for that's how it currently does

Then it falls back to a design decision/principle of the inventors: Does RetroPie-Setup follow a "desired state" approach (=always recreate symlink) or does it have some tolerations (=if existing leave untouched)?

@Flexo55 Sure it is possible. Just think about your requirements.

Which input formats (16:9, 4:3, 5:4, ...) and resolutions (1920x1080, 800x600) should be accepted on the HDMI side? Which output standard should be supported? (NTSC/PAL or both?) Which framerate you need for your CRT (50Hz/60Hz/...)? Shall it support conversion options when converting e.g. from 16:9 (in) to 4:3 (out)? Do you also want HDMI audio looped through the device or will you use the Pi's headphone jack or USB audio? Do you want extra filters supported by the device, e.g. blurring, scanline modification, ...?

This might be one device as example: https://www.startech.com/en-ch/audio-video-products/hd2vid2 (obviously you need a Micro HDMI to HDMI adapter)

I would also ask or research in some AV forums on recommended products for your project and your requirements.

@mitu @BuZz I know this is an old topic, but I'd also like to delete my account. I posted another topic but tried to delete it(couldn't) since I felt it was irrelevant. I don't see any options to message any admins to delete my account so I was wondering how I'd go about contacting an admin to delete my account? I know my post will stay there but it's alright since I privated the topic since I was embarrassed by my question.

First, back up the config.txt file.

Then, try modify disable_overscan=1 by changing it to #disable_overscan=1 .

Also, the last part looks strange. Did you have add it to fix the overscan issue?

    state 0xa [HDMI CUSTOM RGB full 16:9], 1920x1080 @ 60.00Hz, progressive pi@bartop:/ $ /opt/vc/bin/tvservice -m CEA Group CEA has 4 modes: mode 4: 1280x720 @ 60Hz 16:9, clock:74MHz progressive (prefer) mode 16: 1920x1080 @ 60Hz 16:9, clock:148MHz progressive mode 95: 3840x2160 @ 30Hz 16:9, clock:297MHz progressive mode 97: 3840x2160 @ 60Hz 16:9, clock:594MHz progressive pi@bartop:/ $ /opt/vc/bin/tvservice -m DMT Group DMT has 1 modes: mode 4: 640x480 @ 60Hz 4:3, clock:25MHz progressive

Generally, for overscan issues, you have to uncomment and change these values:

    #overscan_left=16 #overscan_right=16 #overscan_top=16 #overscan_bottom=16
