@kal318 Yeah, I think you are exaggerating problems with hotkeys. Retropie does not have a problem with hotkeys. This forum is filled with people who have questions, and questions about hotkeys come up often, but the issues come from a misunderstanding of retroarch/libretro framework combined with the fact that none of us use the same hardware. I use a keyboard controller (IPAC) with arcade controls while you might use a particular gamepad, and we both made different choices at first-run about what buttons we map to what functions, or what changes we made in our .cfg files. It is a source of confusion, and a configuration choice that needs to match the need, but I would not call it a problem.

Case in point, you say keyboard hotkeys are working for you. It probably means you have a keyboard key assigned as the hotkey which would be perfectly normal for me since I use a keyboard controller. It is not a problem, just a a different configuration. It would be like me saying there is a problem with sandwiches because of all of that disgusting mayonnaise I always find. Add me to the list of dry sandwich lovers who cannot find a solution to this mayonnaise problem.

In any case, Your question is a good one and we can probably get you straightened out, but you need to add a lot more detail about your configuration as @mitu suggests above. For example, how did you build your system? We have seen a lot of time wasted on misconfigured third party images where we have no clue how someone else might have messed up choices for you.

for me the problem was the cpu/cyclone git either failed on 443 or it was intentionally trying to use tcp-9418 which was blocked by my firewall. I gave it temp any-any-allow rule and it made it through the install.

@kasimar1 Player selection is done with the Select button, not with D-Pad. It's not a mapping problem, just the wrong button.

@brurpo said in Done cabinet, researching for light gun support:

Since I am using a 29" crt TV, it's technically possible to use a light gun, but as far as I can tell there is no solution available for a real light gun, only wii motes and similar. Is that the case?

Anything is possible with the magic of programming. But yeah a real crt based light gun implementation doesn't exist for any emulator I'm aware of but I could be wrong.

yeah, its the preconfigured mame2003. It does seem that the read-only hack will work, so I guess I'll go with that.

@hoofa8 I'm using my own made dual arcade control panel ( based on ipac 2) and an Xbox wired gamepad at the same time: no issues.

Check the Runcommand log at /dev/shm/runcommand.log and see if you have an error reported there, the file should appear after trying to run a game and you're thrown back to the ES menu.

Make sure you didn't inadvertently disable the "Run Command" option.

Thanks for the updates. I am glad it is recognized as an issue. Maybe the speedhacks will help the gameplay once all of this is resolved. I am always up for some improvement!

@mitu said in 2 players on a single keyboard (encoder usb):

@beccio https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2/forum-rules - the forum does not offer support for 3rd party images and links to copyrighted material (ROMs or other sources of games) are not allowed.
Please remove the link to the ROM image and try to use the RetroPie image from this site if you need help in configuring the controller, 3rd party images have different customizations/configurations which can deviate quite a lot from the image provided by the RetroPie project.

ok, thanks. I've removed the link to the "illegal" image.

I will try to install a clean version of a 4.3 retropie and i will try to have help for the jvs-pac configuration in this way.

    Can be ok?

    Thanks
