@Breeliance Then the issue is not in Linux/RetroPie/OS Configuration, but in OBS/Discord. I don't have any experience with any of them to guess what could be the problem.

For the record the 'X' button on my XBox360 Controller is detected as 003 via hypjsch

So I doubled checked that against the Joystick API config:

      KEY_BUTTON2 = SDLK_LALT 0 3

And again 'X' was FEET and played fine.

I’ve tinkered with clrmamepro before but my results kind of sucked with it. The last time I had to do any of this was with the good tools way back in the original Xbox one days.

Any direction for a good tutorial on how to use Clrmamepro the proper way as I obviously had no idea what I was doing even tho I followed a guide lol.

Any other noob friendly sorting by .dat tool recommendations would also be appreciated, like I said it’s been a long long time since I’ve had to do this or anything like it and things appear to have come leaps and bounds since then

This means the system is not powerfull enough to emulate the game/system at full speed. Given it's a Pi3, it's not unusual since N64 emulation is not fullspeed on it.

Does this have anything to do with RetroPie or is it a general Raspberry Pi question ?

You can force the Raspberry Pi to output a certain video mode suited for a 15khz monitor forcing an EDID which contains that video mode - see for instance https://forums.raspberrypi.com/viewtopic.php?t=370192.

. I can't get ssh working since i don't know the ip address due to not having a screen. is there either a way I can install the necessary stuff without ssh?

If you don't have a direct interface (i.e. monitor + keyboard) to the RPI, then you need SSH. If you don't know the IP, you can try connecting using the hostname instead - for the RetroPie image the hostname is retropie (you can also try with retropie.local)

@duglor i dont know. i dont try it on older versions. you will have to go and manual copy the file over if you are using anything older then 4.8.9.

i did that since im using new helper commands that PR uses that are not there in the older versions and im not making different files for older RP versions. thats too much and can make things too messy
      sorry

The only thing I can think is to enter the runcommandmenu when you start a game and try to select a different resolution.
Really a long time ago since I used this stuff and no time to look into it.
Might be that someone else has an idea.

      It's a closed source 32bit app. You're on a 64bit OS, so it won't run

@jdoc said in How to get 8-Way / 4-Way joystick controls in Defender and Stargate:

Just had to nuke and pave my system, but discovered that mame2003 changed a bit. This cheat still works, but “mame2003-cheats” has changed to “mame2003-cheat_input_ports”.

So changing mame2003-cheat_input_ports = “disabled” to mame2003-cheat_input_ports = “enabled” will make this work again.

Thanks for this. This may be the reason that the MS Pacman speed button stopped working a few years ago, too. I'm gonna give this a try and see if it helps there.

EDIT: Confirmed. This fixed the issue. I posted on this forum about it ages ago and nobody had any idea what was wrong. Thanks!

I can access the bash interface on it, but that is about it.

if you have shell access, can't you just run the setup script again and choose to remove the package ? Run

      cd $HOME/RetroPie-Setup sudo ./retropie_setup.sh

to get to the setup dialog and remove the package.

I have been using Clonzilla for years and it never let me down.

I run it from an live USB stick on my Desktop PC. It has some learning curve but you will find a lot of tutorials online. Running "disk to local image" to backup and "local image to disk" to restore with the defaults should be enough as a start.

As long as the source hardware from where you make the backup and the target restore hardware are the same make and model it should go smooth (i.e. Rpi4 -> Rpi4, SD-card make and model can differ but obviously the size of the target should be same as source or larger).

I assume you only use the SD card for RetroPie and not a mix of SD-card and SSD drive for RetroPie.

Do you use a SD-Card reader via USB in your Desktop PC or is the SD card directly put into the PC's SD-card reader? (I am asking as I have seen USB SD-Card readers failing).
