I had to add usbhid.quirks=0xf000:0x0008:0x100000 to /boot/cmdline.txt and then reboot to get jstest detect the missing buttons.

@Bluebotlabs I know what your original post was asking. If you want mouse support right NOW, you can use the pegasus frontend as an alternative. It uses emulationstation's scraped art/gamelist info except for logos/marquees.

We don't support 3rd party images, especially the ones sold with ROMs and RetroPie. Ask the seller for support, we don't support scammers that sell RetroPie preloaded - it's against the project's license.

@gamehedpro You click on the Code button at the top of the repository and you can download the theme as a .zip file:

After you extract the archive, you can copy the theme's folder to \\retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\themes (create the themes folder if it doesn't exist) and then you can choose the theme from EmulationStation's menu.

Actually there is a configuration to make EmulationStation look automatically for media (video/boxart/marquee) - it's called 'Enable Local Art', in the Other settings.
When enabled, EmulationStation it will look for images/<game>-image.png, images/<game>-video.mp4 and images/<game>-marquee.png (.jpg work also) and use the found media instead of looking in the gamelist.xml.

Nice one mitu, this will save me quite a bit of time, as I am spending a lot more time on the retropie, than before, due to lockdown and furlouh. Sorry Vegasdude, didn't realise you knew about the paths and that, I probably read too much in your question. Never mind Mitu has given us both a good solution :-)

Maybe you can upload such a video snap that is causing problem somewhere, so we can test it ourselves.

If you're playing the video with VLC directly, does it work or crashes also ?

The system file (in /etc) is maintained by the RetroPie-Setup script, so it might get changed by an update, so it shouldn't be used for custom systems.

You're using an unsupported installation method, that's why you're having problems. I guess you've been installing based on a certain outdated and wrong youtube video.

There isn't, the message is just a parsing error, indicating that the scraper site hasn't responded with a well formed XML message. It's because - at the moment - scraping from ScreenScraper doesn't work for un-registered users. You'll have to use an external scraper (see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Scraper/) that supports scraping with a registered account or scrapes from a different source.
