well, i though wrong it is still crashing for me. i ve tried batocera, retropie on raspberry pi and on pc via linux.. nothing, but it seems i m getting less frequent hung-systems, since it triggers now 1 out of 20 achievements i get at random. i ve tried all i could, i ve not found the solution. more is at the github page

@mitu @KN4THX yes, I use Rpi 3b power supply and it freezes completely - I can't do absolutely anything and can only unplug the rpi and plug it back in.

@fluffypillow Thanks man, and sorry again for the "double-posting", I'll answer you here

I did the workaround you told (put 'providers.gog.enabled: false" in settings.txt) and worked! Nice :D

I don't have much GOG games, but here's the list if you want

Aquaria / Bastion / Botanicula / Death to Spies: Moment of Truth
Mark of the Ninja / Gorogoa / Fran Bow / Grim Fandango Remastered
Hyper Light Drifter / Pan-Pan / Shovel Knight / Odallus: The Dark Call
      Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

@Jiryn It could be that those cards are not compatible with the pi3, or they could be bad. Stick them back in your pc and run a check disk on them.

Here is a list of compatible sd cards https://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards

Your cards do not show up there but a 256 Samsung EVO PLUS is listed as compatible.

If you want more space you will likely need to consider using a usb mounted hdd or thumb drive.

Here is another relevant discussion https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/783/largest-size-micro-sd-card

My first instinct was to ask you to check if you're connected to the internet, but you said you updated so I figured out you don't have this problem.
      Glad you figured it out.

@wmarcio Actually, the issue was caused by a similar thing! Instead, it was the usb that I had connected into the pi. All my freezing and stuttering has finally stopped. Thank you for the help!

@mitu I see. I understand. Thank you for the help. I will see if i can find an alternative to NESPi case. Well, the biggest reason i got it was because of the Safe Shutdown script. Pressing a button to turn off the console is neat, so i can prevent any corruptions to the SD Card.

@Clyde You could add the info to an existing issue or open a new one, but I'd test before using a 'standalone' RetroArch (they provide 'flatpak' packages to install easily the latest version) and maybe modifying the build script in RetroPie-Setup to get the latest version of RA to compile.

@hhromic Not really sure that's the culprit, that's the kernel image used to get Wine working - see the (rather recent) Diablo-on-Wine-on-Retropie thread. But for a 3B+ it might be a factor, given the frequent updates added by the Raspbian team to stabilize it on this new model.

I also had the same thing happen on my Odroid Xu4 even with the best power supply while using an external hard drive. Turns out the real issue was that the power where I was living at the time just sucked.

Just want to add that the sound issue is still there in the most current update of the package: in the title screen and at the start of each level you only hear effects and you need to turn off / turn on music in the in-game settings which will then play the music fine - until you transition to a new level and the music is gone again.
I would add this to Github as requested but I am unsure which repository would be the correct one?

@red2blue If the problem is physical, then re-formatting will not bring in additional performance. You're free to save the data from the disk, format as Ext4 and re-try.

      @dankcushions said in Mupen-glide crashing:

@quicksilver no problem :) my understanding with a beefier power supply (eg, the official raspberry pi one), you can still use that case.

I wonder if that would even work. Like I said I never had issues with the lightning bolt icon showing up except while running cpu-burn (probably not many people running that). Only running mupen64-glide for long periods of time revealed that the nespi case was causing power fluctuations. All other emulators seemed to run fine and I have been using the case for over two months now. There are probably a lot of people who think that by making the lightning bolt icon go away that they have solved their voltage issues with the nespi case, but I would bet that they havent actually solved it.

There's an option to disable video audio in the Sound Settings.
