@johnodon yes, i pointed you towards the script earlier. however the script provides an informed guess rather than a cast-iron guarantee. normally it's enough.

lr-mame is in the experimental packages for a reason...

Gotcha. Thanks for all your help.

@jsm said in LR-MAME not saving High Scores:

Just seems like a big oversight to not add the plugins components for things like hi Score to the LR-MAME build since MAME went to that system quite some time ago.

well, i tried to make you use something else because i know that's the most broken mame core, we are talking about a core that'll enter an infinite loop without providing any useful error when using the wrong romset here, and it has been like this for quite some time now... so i don't expect hiscores to be a priority if anyone is even working on improving that core...

How did you 'downloaded' ? If you've used the binary install, you'll get Mame 0.229 and lr-mame based on the 0.229 MAME version.

I have also news about the drivers that use samples.
I found that the sample files found on progettosnaps have more or less different names than the drivers that use them.
So my old list did not match real drivers.
I found a way to match the samples to the drivers that use them.
So the old incorrect list was supposedly 79 drivers.
The correct and new list will be containing 312 drivers.

not update until optimizations are in place

Well, i doubt that's gonna happen soon, netlist emulation has been around for 10 years and always required a somehow good cpu. It'll probably take some time before they make another breakthrough performance-wise, and i'm not sure the MAME team even care about performance in the first place.

@roslof said in lr-mame: Cinematronic Changes and the Pi 4B:

Of course fb-neo is another alternative

Actually, this driver is the only vector games driver we are missing. In my previous post i was talking about netlist emulation in general, since it's used in most 70s and early 80s games, i guess we'll keep using samples for now.

@dankcushions Hi dank. This is actually great to know, as I think you probably just saved me from disappointment.

So I'm working on an arcade build of sorts for the .221 set in its entirety. I guess I assumed here that I could download and align everything to lr-mame, but that doesn't seem to be the case, correct?

Should I just stick to MAME 0.78 and lr-mame2003-plus and go that route? At least I know those will work and that core is bulletproof.

@Darksavior That's more or less the results i expected in terms of performance for lr-mame on a rpi3.

Sadly, sega system 32 is not available in fbalpha, but maybe someday.

It seems is an impossible mission to configure player 2 controls in lr-mame2010: do you have experienced it?

I had this issue where a left mouse click would freeze any game that had a panel overlay (the side art around the actual gameplay). Here was a thread about it. It looks like its fixed on the newest version of Retroarch 1.7.7.
