One of the creators of retrorangepi was able to solve the issue for me via Facebook:

      "from terminal:
      wget http://www.retrorangepi.org/asplashscreen
      sudo cp -v asplashscreen /etc/init.d/

If you want to change the boot screen and tune or enable splash video, edit the file:
sudo nano /etc/init.d/asplashscreen (in plain terminal) OR
sudo pluma /etc/init.d/asplashscreen (in Desktop mode terminal)

comment/uncomment lines in do_start function (remove or add #)"

Worked like a charm. Hopefully this might help anyone who runs into the same issue.

@Darksavior I think that must be the case then. None of the games have a cue file. I have to create them. They just have the binary file.

@SutterKane Hotline Miami is boss. The gerne Outrun is personally my favorite in Synthwave, which is why I've created lotsa songs similar to the Hotline Miami Soundtrack.

Sadly, not as cut and dried as hoped. I thought I'd bite the bullet and unpair my watch, but try as I might it didn't make a difference.

      Boo.

@steve51184 please use Google for your issue. Mac Windows and Linux use different "invisible" control characters to enter new lines in texts. Use Notepad++ for ex and you see the difference.

I cannot get this removed. I try sudo apt remove python-es-bgm and I get

dpkg: error processing package python-es-bgm (--remove): subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: python-es-bgm E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Any ideas? I actually cannot install or uninstall anything, this error from the particular package keeps appearing!

Edit: nevermind, I removed it from /var/lib/dpkg/status and did a dpkg --configure -a. I hope it's clean now...

@Soryn79 said in Quick and easy guide for adding music to Emulatonstation on RetroPie. Noob friendly!:

      I recommend changing:

      while pgrep omxplayer >/dev/null; do sleep 1; done (sleep 10; mpg123 -Z /home/pi/bgm/*.mp3 >/dev/null 2>&1) & emulationstation #auto

to this: (the --no-splash is optional)

      emulationstation --no-splash & while pgrep omxplayer >/dev/null; do sleep 1; done (mpg123 -Z /home/pi/bgm/*.mp3 >/dev/null 2>&1) #auto

Changing it so that it starts after ES loads just makes more sense to me. This makes sure that the music will always start 1 second after the video ends regardless of video length.

Hi there, I tried your version and whilst it works beatifully on startup, it breaks emulationstation when pressing F4, it just hangs on a blank screen.

I thought I'd let you know.

      Any ideas?

      Best!

@mitu I had downloaded them directly for free from aubry hodges (the composer) website when i got them. Now it appears he charges $12 for the psx doom soundtrack and $18 for the doom 64 soundtrack. He has 20 different soundtracks available on his site for various games he composed music for.

@jcook84 yeah i wish i could have scanlines :( but i have too many mods working in zdoom. And several are for zdoom only. It sucks the pi isnt fast enough for "winter'fury" i had to make the screen really really tiny for parts of level 1. And there is so much lag level 2 is not playable.
