      I think your problem is that all controllers (both the arcade and the N64) have the same name and Vendor/Model IDs, making them appear as the same controller to the system.
      When you configure your N64 controller(s), the arcade buttons configuration is overwritten - since they appear the same - and thus your configuration is broken.
      Here's a topic discussing this - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/6264/you-have-to-use-identical-controllers-for-multiplayer-games-please-prove-me-wrong - but it's not the only topic with this problem.

      @coloq said in N64 button mapping woes:

      So... ... still having the issue despite what documentation says I should do...

      As I mentioned before, if you map the physical “a” button to the virtual “b” button and the physical “b” button to the virtual “y” button it will work as you want.

      If I am reading correctly all you need is to get emulators designed for x86 processors, mednafen for ps1 maybe? Install it same as you would mame. RetroPie’s default emulators aren’t designed for pc

      @drrevan it's most likely an issue with the emulation then. Try it with a different emulator/plugin.

      @dankcushions

      Thanks for your suggestion. I managed to get every game back to unpixelated by using FTP and deleting mupen64plus.cfg

      Second time I’ve had to do that. Any idea why?

      It kind of looks like some games reject the default emulator setting that I’ve set (gles2n64) and revert to lr-mupen64plus. I think that because I went into retropie setup>manage main packages>mupen64plus and removed it. Then I went and tried to start a 64 game out of interest. They started, pixelated as there was only one emulator available lr-mupen64plus. Just a thought.

      Mostly trying to work out why sometimes it randomly decides that certain games will be pixelated from now on. Cheers.

      Use @meleu's joystick selections script, it allows you to choose the (player) order of the joysticks per core/system. But if you're DragonRise controllers are always USB connected, they'll probably always be js0 and js1, so I guess you can use the RetroArch gui and choose that player1/2 and joysticks on 3rd and 4th position and save the the core remapping.
      For N64 though, I think you'll need to edit the configuration file explicitly if you're using the standalone Mupen64 - more details are in the docs for the emulator.

      @bluedevil9754 said in Errors are logged to /dev/shm/runcommand.log after selecting default emulator:

      Any leads into what I might be missing?

      Yes, a couple

      The N64 emulator is installed from within the RetroPie-Setup script, not with the procedure you described. The Errors are logged to ... message is a generic runcommand information message and doesn't mean an error has occurred, but in the event of an error, this is where it would be logged.

      RetroPie setup already sets up one of the N64 Emulators ( I think Mupen64 ), so you don't have to install anything, especially macOS binaries that don't run on a RetroPie. Make sure your ROM is valid and try removing any game resolutions you've set, it seems the problem is from your TV not accepting the resolution you set.
