@BuZz That did it, thanks. Now I can unlock the framerate to fullspeed (60). I'll have to double check with mupen, but this might be able to run goldeneye at better speeds. F-Zero and other games are still crashing but that might just be the emulator.

I agree with both of you @Evert and @shavecat, the one I'd really like to make work with hi-res textures is Mario Kart 64 :(

@mitu I just loaded goldeneye and it did load successfully so it appears only the ones I tested werent working. Thanks for taking a look.

Edit: Ill also add that this core runs goldeneye surprisingly smooth...

@spentboy I'm not seeing that I have mupen64plus-GlideN64-hires as an emulator option, nor is it anywhere in the optional packages. Am I missing something? (I do have mupen64plus-GlideN64, but it doesn't load the rom. And none create the htc file.

@Dj-EKI If you'd like that combo to open the menu, then open RetroArch from the RetroPie system in EmulationStation, set the option and then save your configuration.
To leave a game, you'll have to use either a Hotkey + Start - which you don't want - or disable the Hotkey and choose another button for the exit hotkey. Pressing that button will automatically exit the game.

@mitu oh well, mupen64plus performance is very poor on my pi zero (even overclocked) so I suspect lr-mupen64plus will be even worse so its probably not worth my time to dig to much deeper with it :)

Thanks for the help guys. I'm not using Retropie at the moment, I'm using Mupen64plus-next on Lakka. My old Pi3B+/Retropie setup wasn't overclocked so I didn't use N64 much.

Mariokart 64 and Rouge Squadron are my go to games for trying to judge resolution. Rogue Squadron has been covered and Mariokart has slight graphical glitches in anything above 320x2xx which leads me to think that it ran in low res.

      @quicksilver

I also remember that on original N64 hardware that if the analog stick was pushed while the game was booting up the crosshair/selector would get stuck trying to go one direction.

I also remember this, very annoying. But once my N64 joysticks were worn out, I put the analog stick back a bit to not have to press it as much forward to have it react.

Turns out that the dead zone was set too high.
When the joystick finally tilted out of the dead zone it had gone too far for the smaller motions. I set it to almost nothing in comparison to what it was and now everything is nicer to play.

@RonsterMonster There is no official image. At the moment, you can clone the repo, but it's different from what ETA Prime did.

Install raspbian lite. Install Git. Then type: git clone --branch fkms_rpi4 --depth=1 https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup.git
Enable the GL (Fake KMS) driver in raspi-config

If you're not familiar with a manual install, go here: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Manual-Installation

I'd really hope for test images soon. Basically all the libretro emulators work. The rest are hit or miss.

We don't support 3rd party images - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first - ask the RetroArena team for support, since they are the ones producing the image.

Simple comment. I had the same issue but my lowerBound had to be fix to value 490. It's important to check the value when your stick go back in place. My left stick showed a value of 491 when It came back from left to center. Now, Everything's working fine

I suggest to use joy.cpl to find It.

      Hi there,

So I left my Raspberry Pi alone for a month and when I came back to it I started fresh. I think the problem was with my HDD.

So I think my HDD was previously formatted to exFAT file system. The only options I had were NTFS and exFAT. I found this person on youtube called Eta Prime and his videos were a big help, especially this one:

It explains how to format your drive to FAT32

I flashed the image to the SD again and formatted my HDD to FAT32 and added the "retropie-mount" folder as shown in the video.

Then I searched some more videos on his channel of which bios were needed for the different emulators and how to add the games.

I found out how to "unECM" the ECM files from my PlayStation games and I'd say at the moment about 90% of the games work and I can save using the save state feature + via the in-game save mechanics.

The emulators I have used up to this point are: GB, GBC, GBA, NES, SNES, N64, Megadrive and PS1.

So yes, I'd say the problems are now solved. Maybe one more thing I'd like to try is activating my RetroAchievements account so I can earn achievements on some of the games. I got it to work previously, but I don't know how anymore because it's been over a month ago.

Big shout out to Eta Prime. Check his channel here:
