      After spending the weekend thinking about which procedure was done wrong, I remembered that I performed many installations and updates hoping to fix the problem, so I downloaded a clean .img and installed it again. After reinstalling the OS the control worked correctly, thank you anyway.

      @Shadowkiller324
      Check the pcsx.cfg in /opt/retropie/configs/psx/pcsx/
      the first line should have the bios name.
      I know you have probably tried this but update the pcsx emulator.

      I wouldn't give up hope on the lr-pcsx, I use it for every psx game. Maybe one of the retroarch configs has a problem, like; system_directory = "~/RetroPie/BIOS" being something else
      You could backup both /opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg and /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg if you have them, or if youre not attached to your configs then you could delete them. A new one will be generated and you could copy it as configs/psx/retroarch.cfg then restore the configs/all/retroarch.cfg.backup.

      @Shortgaze
      ps3 controllers are good, windows drivers used to be hard to install.

      My problem with arc arena, I tried the usual things including HLE bios but I didnt get a full reset for it to work because of autoload. I didn't think of deleting the config, doing so changed the default system directory to the content folder so no BIOS was found and so it loaded the HLE and worked. System Directory was the first setting I changed back, and the controller stopped working when it loaded the SCPH bios again. Anyways thanks.

      Ok I'll check it out! I'll install it from PuTTY and see if there's any improvement.

      I can always reinstall everything and keep going with a clean installation, that should do it as well.

      Thank you for your help!

      @simpleethat I tried it a few times to try and get to the memory card manager, I didn't even realize that it was because of an .m3u. I always turn it off, like its a big no, or I'm in a hurry to boot my game. And now I'm kind of interested, with the same interest that we get when we first turn on our playstations. I'll leave it on and see what I find.

      I half remember the playstation bios telling you what bios you're using but, I must have imagined it as all I ever see is PCSXtm.

      On my Raspberry pi 2, the BIOS screen was difficult to get the sound perfect without any drops. I spent a while changing the audio freq, but then overclocking almost got it to perfect.

      Random: If you leave Final Fantasy IX on for over 99.59.59 then the clock resets and changes color, mine was red, I don't know what impact this has on the game.

      @BJRetro I think I did the lr. But when I went to update, I could not find the binary option. Only from source. I'm also not sure what the difference is :s
      Thanks for the tip, this might be it. Will look up how to do it.

      @mitu LOL Wiseass. :)

      Yeah I did use Selph's scraper. I like the videos.

      I did check that es_systems.cfg file before I posted just to make sure. Love the search function for problems. Had MANY I didn't have to post for because it's already on here... usually with your name on it. :)

      EDIT: Yep. my gamelist.xml file has a bin and a cue entry. Shaved out everything that said WWF and it only shows one in ES now. I just re-scraped that one game. Thanks. :)

      @mitu said in Beetle psx emulator doesn't run games:

      @Tackskull I thought it was pretty clear:

      Go to the /opt/retropie/configs/all folder. Remove the retroarch.cfg file. Copy the retroarch.cfg.rp-dist file to retroarch.cfg.

      Repeat the step for the psx system, as @quicksilver mentioned:

      Go to the /opt/retropie/configs/psx folder. Remove the retroarch.cfg file. Copy the retroarch.cfg.rp-dist file to retroarch.cfg. If you don't have the retroarch.cfg.rp-dist file there, then remove the retroarch.cfg file and re-install the PS1 emulator, it will add the file automatically.

      Thanks @mitu this helped me out.

      Somehow I had managed to also reset the config. Doh

      Keep us updated if you get the Japanese PS1 version of 'Kuon no Kizuna' working or not.

      I actually booted up the game, got the to menu, but no matter what I choose (there only 2 entries + a 'Disable Rumble' entry) there's some warning or info message that I can't understand and then it goes back to the main menu. I didn't test with changing the game region from the core options, there might be some DRM/region protection message that I can't understand :).

      @mitu That's exactly the combination I'm using to "restart" the emulator. Basically, the main issue is with this way to restart.

      I've also heard, there might be a different way (L1+L2+R1+R2+Select+Start, didn't work gor me).

      @megaJekan said in Is it worth it to upgrade from Raspberry Pi 3 B to Pi 3 B+ for faster PSX emulation:

      @dankcushions with setting 480p as resolution and disabling shaders slowdowns in Tekken 3 are minimal now.

      nice! but you really don't have to use 480p. like i said, pscx-rearmed is full speed (other than the same slight micro-slowdown emulations issues) on a pi2 at 1080p at default settings.

      Tested the srm save on my end as well and can confirm it works so it is definitely something wrong with the save states causing an issue in the game. Sucks losing the option to use save states but at least I can play through the game again.

      Thank you all for your help.

      edit: still happening after I open the retroarch menu to toggle cheats or something, have some ideas I will test and post my findings later

      Please add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first to your post.
      The controller configuration should be done in Emulationstation, it's then automatically translated into RetroArch configuration file(s) so you don't have to re-configure your controller in again in RetroArch.

      Just tried a few with the (re-)modified configs/all/retroarch.cfg :

      Atari 800 now uses the analog stick only - with whatever assignment (digital or analog) N64 seems to do the right thing now: only the analog sticks work In PSX only the dpad works

      So all in all, quite a weird combination which doesn't seem to make too much sense.

      @mitu said in (PS3) Controller configurations across different emulators:

      Actually, not all is lost (well, not so dramatically). While it may not be an option for the emulator, you can trick it by re-modelling your controller - Xboxdrv. It does require more setup work though.

      Will see. For now I guess I will stay with the analog stick working as dpad option. Either way, only one emulator does it wrong then (N64) besides PSX which seems to do it wrong all the time, while then at least I have the choice of using one or the other control with all remaining emulators.

      By the way, after switching off this analog=dpad mapping, In Vice still both controls worked, which makes full sense because in Vice's configuration screen you can define the dpad and analog controls separately - in a working manner ;-)

      EDIT: The challenge for the PSX emulations is probably the fact that the analog version of the PS controller was released "belated" in 1997, a long while after the PSX was released (by that time only with a digital controller).
      There weren't too many game titles also which actually supported the analog controller feature, and those who did obviously did that with regional limitations:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_Analog_Controller

      All in all a relatively complicated topic, which might explain in a way why analog support works quite well in the N64 emulations (where an analog controller was provided natively) and not so well in the PSX ones. There for the most part, it seems to depend on the game itself and even its country code, if Dual Analog Controller or even Dual Shock Controller support actually works. The latter one does for me in a few games, e.g. Driver II, but then again the real analog stick support I couldn't get to work, neither for this nor any other PSX game.
